Cooking
From Food Questions
1. How often do you make food and eat it? At least once a day.
2. Do you consider toasting bread, preparing instant noodles, or boiling an egg to
be cooking? Why or why not? Not making toast but preparing noodles,
boiling an egg... not hard but they do require timing so I would
classify them as cooking,
3. What’s your favorite dish to make? I don't have one favorite. I like cooking pasta
in lots of forms.
4. Cooking or baking: what’s more fun? What’s more difficult? I like cooking better
than baking but do enjoy baking.
5. Who did most of the cooking in your house when you were growing up? My mom
6. How have you learned the cooking skills that you have? From my mom, early on,
and some Italian dishes from Joe's mom.
7. Have you ever taken a cooking course? If so, what did you learn? If not, would
you like to do one? What would you like to learn? Other than home-ec in high
school, I have not taken a cooking class. Publix Apron classes sometimes have
one called What Does It Need? I would like that one because I often taste while
cooking and always think it needs something... never sure what.
8. Have you tried cooking food from another culture? Yes. Italian, Chinese,
Mexican... What did you prepare? Kinds of pasta, meatballs, stirfry, tacos...
How was it? All good!
9. Is it cost-effective to do your own cooking? Can you save money by cooking?
Depending on the restaurant, it is sometimes less expensive to eat out but ultimately
I think it is less expensive to cook at home.
10. Would you rather do the cooking or do the washing up afterward? I have always
done both.
11. Do you use recipes to cook? Yes. If so, where do you get the best recipes?
Pinterest. Do you get them from friends, family, online, or from cookbooks? I get
them from all of those...
12. Have you ever tried to prepare some food and just totally ruined it? What
happened? I have had a few less desirable concoctions. I don't remember the last
time, but am sure it got thrown out.
13. Do you prefer cooking at home or eating out at a restaurant? Why? I am always
happy to eat out but I enjoy cooking for a crowd.
14. Is cooking a social activity for you? Do you like to do it with other people, or do
you prefer to do it alone? The cooking itself is not social and I much prefer being in
the kitchen alone.
15. Do you have a lot of cooking equipment? How often do you use it all? Do you
have any pieces of equipment that you rarely ever use? I do have a lot of cooking
equipment; I rarely use some of it, including my InstantPot. I don't use my bread
machine much anymore either.
Off to church this morning!!
Palm Sunday, and Holy Week ahead...

From knowing you here, I know you enjoy cooking for friends and I think that is great. I can but dont like to cook at all and am blessed to have a son who is a good cook and likes to prepare our meals. Having owned a restaurant, he pretty much can do it all!
ReplyDeleteAs you well know, Terri, Danny does most of the cooking in our house. I don't mind cooking, but I enjoy baking more.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday!
The old bread machine... now that is a memory from the past.. at the time I loved it...whatever did I do with it... :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your answers.
ReplyDeleteI also prefer being in the kitchen alone.
Have a great Sunday.

I always prefer to cook alone...just my preference, grin. I always enjoy your posts, Terri. smiles
ReplyDeleteWe share some similarities. I, too, have equipment I rarely use. I never did buy an Instapot because I didn't think I would use it much. I did buy a small air fryer and we use it all the time. Hubby love it. Happy Sunday- xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI kind of enjoy cooking alone too. That way I can concentrate and do my thing. Loved your answers! Have a nice day!

You're making me hungry, Terri! Shortly after it opened, my ex and I took a 6-week cooking course (free champagne!) from the chef at Armani's (Tampa). My only take-away 'win' was crepes. The tiramisu an epic fail. These days I'd rather Tom do the cooking while I clean. Unfortunately, our kitchen doesn't lend itself to two people working at the same time.
ReplyDeleteWe make our meals at all times now that we've given up sugar and anything processed, especially with HFCS. We're so much healthier for it too. I wish I was a good cook. Steve does all the dishes, I clean up. Bet your meals are delicious.
ReplyDeleteSending Love & Prayers xx
I do cook every day, but I mostly cook to feed us, nothing fancy. Hubby prefers simple easy meals and nothing exotic. The most exotic thing I do is burritos or tacos.LOL. We kind of have a routine of meals that we like that are easy to fix. I don't use a lot of processed foods, however, and stay away from a lot of sweets, etc. Don't have an instapot or air fryer, but I do have a bread machine and I like to use it occasionally...mostly for me because hubby doesn't really like the homemade bread! Strange, I know. Since we moved so far away from most restaurants, we usually only go out once a week on Sunday after church to our local True Grits or the Hog Wild BBQ occasionally. Not much else near enough to choose from. I hope you had a wonderful Palm Sunday service today. Thinking of you especially this week as I know it will be difficult. I hope you will have some people to celebrate Easter with. (((hugs)))
ReplyDeleteI like to cook and bake and get my recipes from all the places you mentioned.
ReplyDeleteI rarely use my bread maker anymore either.
That cooking class sounds very interesting.
I found your blog through Mari's recent post. I enjoyed reading your responses. I prefer baking more than cooking.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy cooking and trying new things. Cooking for Anthony and Lori has most certainly expanded my experience since they like a variety of ethnic dishes.
ReplyDeleteAlas, both of my Instant Pots have been sorely neglected these past several months after having used them 3-4 times a week before .... But as time goes on, I expect to be using them more and I look forward to that.
ReplyDeleteLike you, I prefer to cook alone. I am a fairly good cook, but I need to concentrate on what I'm doing and socializing while cooking messes with that.
