Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 373
It's that time again, which means I'm here with our questions for this week's Hodgepodge. Answer on your own blog, then hop back to this space on Wednesday and share answers with all the other stay-at-homers. Non-stay-at-homers too. See you there-
1. Saturday marks the first official day of summer! Whoohoo! Your favorite thing about the season? Summer in Florida is not my favorite season. It is hot and humid for three months. We endure it for the blessed wonderful weather in the other nine months!!
2. Love it!, a labor of love, not for love or money, no love lost, love handles, love does, love-hate relationship, misery loves company, tough love, love will find a way...pick one and tell us how it applies to your life right now. Love handles!! Won't everyone say that one? I've lost a bit more than 50 pounds in the last two years but have put seven of them back on during this time of inactivity and over-snacking.
3. What's one thing currently causing you to seethe? Mainstream media. One thing currently making you smile? A great check-up with the doctor yesterday!
4. Of the following to-dos found on a summer checklist (here) which three would definitely make your personal list of summer want-to-dos?
roast marshmallows over a fire, go berry or peach picking, dangle your feet off the end of a dock, sit on a porch swing, watch the sunset from a beach, nap in a hammock, go barefoot in the grass, collect seashells, play tennis, go fishing, build a sandcastle, catch fireflies, eat a soft-serve ice cream cone, make a pitcher of Sangria, swim in a lake, stargaze, ride a bike, paddle a canoe or kayak, make a summer road trip, throw a frisbee
Do you make an actual list? I don't have a list, but will put these three from above on a list for you: Dangle my feet off the end of a dock; eat a soft-serve ice cream cone; and make a pitcher of Sangria!!
5. Thursday is National Splurge Day. What might you splurge on in order to celebrate? I don't splurge on anything very often and am not prepared for tomorrow, but I have been looking at new sewing machines online. I miss having a sewing machine.
6. Insert your own random thought here. It isn't random and it is sad, but we learned yesterday afternoon that Joe's younger brother, Nick, died from his aggressive cancer that he has been fighting for nearly a year. He was put under hospice care last week so we have been expecting it, but it sure went fast. Joe wanted to get up there to see him but getting on a plane during this time just isn't something we can do right now. Joe's health issues are too bad to chance being on a plane during this pandemic and a 20-hour car ride isn't possible right now with my knee still not healed completely. Everyone up there in PA understands but Joe is taking it hard. If you will offer a prayer for the family, it will be much appreciated! Thank you!!

ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss
ReplyDeleteOh, Terri, I'm so sad to hear this news. I will definitely keep Joe and all the family in prayer at this time of loss.
ReplyDeleteBlessings, my friend.
So sorry to hear this Terri. Will definitely remember the family and you and Joe in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteTerri: Sorry to hear about Joe's younger brother.
ReplyDeleteMy prayers go out to the whole family.
I am so sorry about Joe's brother...keeping you in prayer. {{{big hugs}}}
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry about Joe's brother and that he can't be there with his family. Saying a prayer for all of you.
ReplyDeleteGlad your check-up went well!
Have a blessed day!
Aw, Terri and Joe. I'm so sorry to learn about Nick's passing. Of course, I'm holding all who loved him in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteCONGRATS on the impressive weight loss and doctor's visit!
Well I'm glad you got a good health report but sorry to hear about Joe's brother. It must be so difficult at the moment not being able to get to see people and deal with grief without the support of family. Hugs to you both.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother-in-law. What an extra difficult time to grieve under these restrictions from the pandemic.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to tell you I couldn't use the link at the Hodgepodge. Not sure if it is just me or if anyone else is having that problem. I scrolled down to find you on another post and linked through there.
Sorry the link didn't work! Thanks for finding me. I'll try to fix it next week!
DeleteVery sorry to hear about Joe's brother. The pandemic has certainly put a hardship on things such as this and it stinks. I agree about mainstream media. In fact, I am just over it all. Very sad indeed.
ReplyDeleteI once chose summer as my favorite month because as a teacher it meant time with my kids but now I certainly love all the other seasons in Florida.
I'm in Florida too and all I ever want to do in the summer is stay home in the air conditioning! I 'm visiting from Wednesday Hodgepodge but your link there isn't working. I checked back on an earlier one hoping you were a regular.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss.
Thanks for finding me! Sorry that link doesn't work. I'll try to fix it next week!
DeleteI am NOT a summer person either girl. Back at you.
ReplyDeleteLove handles - cute - me too.
And Mainstream media is ruining the world - just my opinion.

Oh I'm so sorry for your loss. This pandemic makes hard things extra hard. I'm so glad you got a good check up and are recovering well. Take care. I will be thinking of your hubs as he grieves the loss of his brother.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI'm so sorry about Joe's brother. Will be praying for your family.
ReplyDeleteYou've done well in losing that weight. It's a constant struggle.
I am so sick of the media too!!!
Oh Terri, I am so sorry to hear of Nick's passing. That must be so hard to not be able to go up for the service. This is definitely not a good time for either of you to take a trip like that by any mode of transportation.
ReplyDeleteAs for sewing machines, I have two. One is a pricey Pfaff that has more brains than me. The other is a very inexpensive (about $100) Singer that I bought at Joann's about 4 years ago. It serves my needs very well and I recommend going that route unless you need the bells and whistles of a more expensive model.
My old Singer lasted since about 1974, so no question about sticking with a Singer. I just ordered one for $135.00 and think it will serve me well. I don't sew much anymore but do make repairs and the pile is growing!
