Historic Friday Fotos....

We were planning a trip to the farm (Joe's client) yesterday and I thought I would have some new photos to share but the owner had a bad night and asked us to not come until next week.  I miss the horses and dogs and goats but they will remember the lady with the carrots when I see them next week!

I shared our vacation to Italy last week.  I also mentioned in an earlier post that we wanted to go to Nashville for our 35th-anniversary trip this year.  We have tried to go somewhere for our anniversary every five years.  For our 30th, we went to New Orleans so that is the subject for today.  Most of you have seen these, but perhaps new readers haven't so here we go...

Joe and I love New Orleans and have been three times together (I've been four times).  We drove there.  It is only about 12 hours from Lakeland.

When we travel, we always take time for outlet shopping!
It is just always part of our vacation.

It is always great to see the signs!!

Crossing the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway Bridge.
It is 24 miles long!!

Our hotel was near the Riverwalk shops.

A Gallery for Fine Photography is a good friend of the
art museum where I worked.  We did several exhibits from
their collections and it was fun to pop in and get a couple
of hugs from the artists!

Our favorite Emiril restaurant is NOLA and we sat at the
pizza bar this trip and had a great time talking with the pizza chef!

The dining room is more casual and not terribly expensive for lunch/

You can't miss the French Market when you go. A must see!

Sidewalk signs are everywhere trying to entice you in...

Love the architecture. We didn't tour the Garden District this trip
but it is not to be missed if you haven't been there!

The titles of these books just made me laugh. Had to snap a shot!

The mighty Mississippi River.

More shops and more shopping!

Artists set up all around Jackson Square.

This was our hotel. It was on the outskirts of the French Quarter so
not quite as expensive.  It was walkable though, even for us.
Very comfortable and the restaurant there was so good we ate there
at least once each day.  It was also near where NCIS New Orleans is filmed.

You can't go to New Orleans without visiting the Cafe DuMonde
for beignets and cafe au lait!

Joe really got into the beignets!!  LOL
Actually, he posed this picture but it is a favorite!

And then there were none...

We drove up to Baton Rouge to meet up with blogging friends, Vic,
and his (now) wife, Tina.  We had a great time visiting!!
Vic doesn't blog anymore but we are still connected on FB.

Vacations and (especially) New Orleans are all about food.
We just had to have lunch at a Popeyes while we were there! LOL

And we learned how to eat crawfish, which were in season!

This was one of the meals at our hotel.  Crab bisque and crab cakes.

Shrimp and grits!! Yum!

Burger & fries.

Breakfast of crawfish, eggs benedict with home fries. Delicious!

And our trip home showed us a beautiful double rainbow!

There are more photos.  We took a tour of the Katrina damage that is still in the 9th Ward.  Saw the community of homes for musicians that was funded and conceived by Harry Connick, Jr. and other musicians.  We also always tour the cemeteries but had rain that day so the pictures aren't too good.

We stopped at the Beau Rivage Casino on the way home, in Biloxi, Mississippi.  It was damaged badly during Katrina but is back in all its glory.  It took us longer to find a parking place than it did to lose our $40.00!!  LOL

Off subject... today is my sister's birthday (the youngest!).  Happy birthday to Tammy!!

Thanks for visiting today!  Have you been to New Orleans?
Peace & hugs!! God bless!!

    1. There is so much history and so much more to see than I posted here. The zoo is amazing, the art museum is amazing, we took a river boat ride one time that was so much fun, and there are plantations to visit all around. We visited on in Baton Rouge on this trip. You don't have to do Bourbon Street!! It is pretty awful, actually. Oh, we did a ghost tour one night!

  3. Well now I want a beignet.:) We try to take memorable trips every couple of years. I have never been out of the country but in the state of things right now I think Home is certainly best. There are so many things to see here in the USA.

  5. Wow! What a wonderful travelog of New Orleans! We have never been there and I guess I never really had any desire to go, but you have made it so interesting and enjoyable I might be tempted to go! It all looks like fun and a lot of good food especially!! Thank you for sharing it with us. This was great!

  6. Happy Birthday to sister Tammy!!

I enjoyed your NOLA pics and remember some of them from when you made the trip. I had started reading your blog when you were planning your itinerary never dreaming that in a few years I'd be living in Florida within visiting distance of you and Joe!!! Isn't it amazing the turns our lives take!

  8. Happy Birthday to Tammy! My son and DIL have long enjoyed their mini-trips to the Big Easy, but it never really appealed to me. Now, I may have to re-think it. Great take on Friday Fotos!
