The Wednesday Hodgepodge...

I am joining Joyce, From this Sie of the Pond, and all the other Hodgepodgers today.
You can find the questions and join in right HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 374

From this Side of the Pond

1. This time last year where were you?
No big surprise, - right here where I am today!  Though, looking back I see that week we were expecting a visit from blogging friend, Barb, and her Beloved.  Gosh, has it really been a year since that visit?!!

2. In honor of National Pink Day (June 23rd) tell us your favorite pink food or beverage. Was it on the menu at your house yesterday? Do you like to wear the color pink? If we came to visit would we find this color in your home decor? Blush-Fuschia-salmon-raspberry-your favorite shade of pink?  Oh my... I do like pink lemonade; it was not on the menu yesterday but I made a pitcher of Crystal Light pink lemonade last weekend.  I do like to wear pink but only have a couple of things in my closet of that color.  There is no pink in my house but we have a pink flamingo out front.  I like a light shade of pink best, but do have a Fuschia top that I like to wear.

3. Stop and smell the roses, looking through rose-colored glasses, a rose by any other name, not all moonlight and roses, no rose without a thorn...which rosy saying currently fits your life in some way? Explain.   No rose without a thorn... a friend from church/our community group stopped by with a bouquet of roses and a condolence card for us at the death of Joe's brother.  They were roses from her yard and had thorns, plus it was a sad occasion but a sweet gesture.

4. Are you a 'reader'? Do you tend to read lighter books in the summer months? Do you have a summer reading list? If so, give us a title or two.  I AM a reader and read for entertainment/enjoyment so lighter books are usually what I choose.  I love reading cozy mysteries and normally get them for free on my Kindle.  Of course, I read my Bible daily, following our Community Bible Reading guide from our church.

5. Share with us one rose and one thorn from your weekend.  The rose was that we joined other worshipers at our church on Sunday - second Sunday in a row that we were back together!!  I can't think of a thorn unless it was doing laundry on Saturday... but even that is always a good thing.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  Not so random... I am off to Tamps this morning for my final visit with the surgeon (until September, anyway).  I am anxious to have him sign off on my knee so I'll be allowed to get in the pool and continue getting some exercise by walking in the water - aqua-fit.

I have been texting with the woman who was my roommate in the hospital.  When we learned we were both from Lakeland we had a bond.  Then we had the same nurse for our home care.  Of course, we both had the same surgeon.  She had her hip done and I had my knee.  Anyway, her home therapy has taken longer but we are beginning to talk about getting together for lunch soon.   It is fun having a new friend from such crazy circumstances!  Her name is Susan.

Some folks asked about our "cat circus" yesterday.  It really is a circus when we have to round up all three cats for a visit to the Vet.  All doors get shut so they can't go under beds, etc., and we do our best to get them corraled into a smaller area where we can catch them.  Lilly made it to the top of the kitchen cupboards, in spite of our efforts, and Lucy was under a loveseat.  Vinny just gave up. We did manage to get them all to their appointments, though, and they are good to go for another year!!  Here they are, lined up in the back seat, in their carriers.  Shots done and nails clipped...

Thanks for stopping by!! Happy hump day!
Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  1. We had a large cat years ago that was adopted from the shelter because he was so calm in the midst of the chaos going on around him. It was a good choice as he was the most loveable cat I've ever met...more dog than cat. LOL Until you tried to put him in a carrier. Then he'd go spider monkey on me. I got him declawed after he shredded my arms on one attempt. I still have a couple of scars you can see. I'm glad your kitties do better than that! Have a great day, Terri!

  2. Cats!!!! I am laughing over your circus!!

I love that you have a new friend from your hospital experience! Friends can come from so many different experiences. I learned this week that one of my friends acquired a new friend because of a wrong delivery of a patio settee - to someone a few hours away! The lady who had the settee mistakenly delivered to her driveway looked up my friend on FB and friend requested her. It took the two of them working together and making numerous phone calls to finally get the settee delivered to my friend's house. But in the process these two women discovered many similar interests and are very glad they have "met." What a story!!

Have fun getting back into the pool!

  3. So glad to hear you survived the cat corralling, Terri! And how neat it is to make a new friend over a hospital visit - who would have imagined? Hope you all can get together soon, too. Pink has always been a favorite color of mine, at least to wear. I wouldn't decorate my house with it - lol!
    Blessings!

  4. I am hoping to get into the gym soon with my Silver Sneakers via Medicare. I am still a little timid about going there and my back has been bothering me so I am taking things slowly these days. I will get my exercise cleaning house today!! Hope your appt goes well Terri.

  8. How neat to have a new friend under unusual circumstances. Glad you were able to round up the crew to go to the vet...that is a job, I remember. The dr. needs to give you the go ahead to get into the pool. It is such good exercise. Happy Wednesday.

  11. I can't even imagine wrangling 3 cats...I just have 1 dog to get to the vet Friday and am kinda dreading her in the car. She is not particularly easy to ride with. Maybe I should use my sister's cat carrier. lol

  12. How nice that you made a friend at the hospital with my name! my dog runs under the hutch when she gets scared. I like to stretch in my spa but I need to be out walking. I like your background with the red and blue ribbons.

  13. Oh, I hope you were given the green light by your surgeon! Meeting a new friend the way in which you did sounds cool! I don't suppose that sort of thing happens very often. I LOVE your cat carriers … they're stylin'!

  14. I didn't know today was National Pink Day - I love pink for breast cancer. I can't wear that color tho - your cats bags were pink!
I try to look at things with rose colored glasses - you really only have two choices - bitter or better - right?
Nice about the roses your received. Sweet to be thought of.

  15. Nice to visit you today! That is fun to meet a new friend and stay in contact. I am a reader too, I haven't gotten used to read on my iPad yet. I've tried but just prefer books from the library!

    God bless you!

  16. Terri, I hope you received good news from your surgeon! I do love my pinks. I agree that a pale pastel pink is best. I don't think I have anything hot pink! I'm glad your cat babies are all done with their vet visit! xo

  17. Terri, you reminded me of our little miniature dachshund who, when he heard me running bath water, he hid under the bed because he didn't want a bath. I would go ring the doorbell to get him out! You are a person who makes friends wherever you go!

  18. Herding 3 cats sounds like quite the ordeal lol! I once had a cat who turned into the feline version of the Matrix when we tried to get her out of her carrier.

Hope you get good news from your surgeon.

  19. Fingers crossed, prayers lifted for the all clear.
I LOVE that you made a new friend during your procedure. I always & truly believe God brings people together just at the right time - you two were meant to be in that room together. So cool!

  20. I'm not a fan of pink in my house or my clothes but I love it in my flowers!
I like my Kindle too and the free books you can get.
I love that you've stayed in touch with your room mate! She's blessed to know you!

  21. Wow, I did not realize it has been nearly a year since our visit to see you and Joe. But I do remember I wanted to get the visit in before the "knee replacement marathon" began -- and what a marathon that turned out to be with delays and Joe's health issues thrown into the mix, too!

I'm glad you are doing so well. And look at you, going to lunch with your hospital roommate!! You can make friends in the most interesting of places!!!
