Tuesday 4 Meme...

Thanks to Annie for this week's questions!  You can find them and join in HERE!

Extremes
Welcome to Tuesday 4 in the memory of Toni Taddeo.

The idea is to get people thinking and talking to one another. The more we talk, the more we learn and grow.  If we have learned anything from this house arrest, it is that people need people and as Barbra Streisand sang, "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world."

This week, let's think about extremes...

1.      Besides a house or car, what is the most expensive thing you've ever bought?  Probably a purse.  I have a bad, bad, love of purses.  Oh, I forgot about our trip to Italy. Those tickets weren't cheap and neither was the case of wine we had sent home!

2.      What is the coldest temperature you've experienced?  Somewhere below zero. I grew  up in Ohio back when things really did freeze there in the winter.  The warmest?  Now I live in Florida so probably high 90s.  I'm sure it had a "feels like" of over 100.

3.       Can you name a favorite TV/Radio program that you secretly can't get enough of or one that you will watch every chance you get? Perhaps binge watch?  We binge watch a lot of shows but most recently it was season 5 of Outlander.  I have read all of the books and love the way they are doing the TV series.  Each season is one book.

4.      What is very wrong but sounds good to most people at first?  Gambling; or I'll just take one chocolate; or "trust me" from a salesman...
------------------------------------------------------------

I heard from Tampa General Hospital yesterday.  My pre-op appointment with them is this Thursday.  Joe can't go with me for the pre-op but they will allow him to be with me for the surgery on the 12th.  I have to go there on Monday, the 11th, and get a C-19 test done.  That's a lot of trips to Tampa (not to mention my pre-op with the surgeon on May 4th).  I am just happy to be getting it done.  It was in the newspaper this morning that Tampa General only has 12 C-19 patients in the hospital right now and they are in a separate secluded part of the hospital.  Tampa General Hospital is huge... 12.

So, that's the scoop on elective surgeries being allowed again.  I am happy to get the test done, too.  Of course, you will be taking this journey with me through the blog!!

Thanks for checking in!!

Peace & hugs!  God bless!!

  1. Sounds like things are lined up for the knee surgery and I know you will be glad to get it behind you. I will be praying all goes well. As for shows, I probably have watched Downton Abbey more than others. Expensive? watch. Happy Tuesday!

  2. Love that you are finally getting things lined up for your surgery. Praying that all will go well and that you will pass your C19 test with no problem. Amazing, only 12 patients in Tampa General! That is good news I would think. That trip to Italy sounds like it was the trip of a lifetime. Purses? I guess I would never have guessed that! LOL. I'm so proud of my $10.00 Dollar General purse that I am using right now. I had one purse that I paid $40.00 for, which for me was a huge amount to pay, and a little old lady had handmade it, a tapestry big bag style purse, and I literally used that purse for 20 years, almost every day (except Sunday). It was perfect for work and carrying the bank bag to and from the bank every day for deposits so no one could see that's what I had. I finally retired it when I retired, but I still have it. Can't bear to get rid of it. LOL. Okay, have a great day, and God bless you in your future events!! We will be praying.

  4. I have a bad, bad, bad love of purses, too, but I'm also cheap. I don't think I've ever spent more than $100 for a purse and that has only happened once or twice. Oh, yeah...the "I'll just have one" trap. Oi!
I'm glad the news is good about your surgery and that Joe can be with you for the surgery. I was just looking at the numbers for PA this morning and realized that between 60-70% of the deaths they are reporting have all been in nursing homes, not the general population. It's the folks who are very old, have quite possible more than one underlying condition that makes them even more vulnerable, and most, if not all of them, probably have directives stating no extraordinary measures to keep them alive so they are not being put on respirators. It's still sad, but it does give one a bit of perspective.

    1. Stacy, I always buy purses on sale and don't usually pay more than $40 or so, but I did make one purchase years ago that was more than 4x that. The leather looks worn but the purse is still good and holds a tone of junk!! LOL

  5. I have a thing for purses too, smiles. Keeping you in prayer, Terri.

  6. Good news on the surgery. I had a thyroid surgery a couple of years ago at Tampa General. I was so impressed with that place. It was a well oiled machine and the view was pretty too. Purses were my weakness all the years I worked. I am much better now.

  7. What reassuring news from TGen!
I can't recall any agonizing cold, but Father's Day 2016 broke the camel's back for me when the mercury hit 121.
Love your response to #4. I didn't play this week, but all I could think of was pyramid schemes; even multi-tier sales like my brief, unsuccessful relationship with Shaklee. (*smile*)

    1. I didn't do Shaklee but did Avon and Mary Kay. Had a friend who was into Amway (horror!).

  9. Thanks for the update on your surgery, and the stats on the amount of C-19 cases at Tampa General. That's very reassuring, and I'm hoping and praying it all gets better with each passing day.
    Blessings, Terri!

    1. I looked while in Florence. They were all waaaay too expensive. I bought one years ago at Wilson's Leather and still carry it now and then. It's just a BIG dumping kind of purse. Holds everything. Worn and weathered looking but still solid!

  12. Responding to #1 and #2:

    1. My shoulder replacement after taking a terrible fall from standing on top of my kitchen counter. Yes, health insurance paid for it monetarily, but I’ve been paying for that poor choice on my part every day since it happened over 11 years go.

    2. We lived in South Dakota in our early married years. I distinctly remember going home from a New Year’s Eve party when the temp was -17 degrees. As for the warmest temp, we were driving through Dallas-Fort Worth some years ago when it was 117 degrees. Absolutely terrible.

I’m glad this second long-awaited knee surgery is still on the schedule. We’ll be praying you through this!

  13. I'm glad you're going to be able to get your surgery. I have a friend having cancer surgery in NY and her husband is not allowed to be in the hospital. It's just awful not to have some support there. I know the staff is wonderful, but I feel for her.

    1. I was afraid Joe wouldn't be allowed but was happy when she told me he could be there. I did it all by myself last time because he was so sick. I could do it again but really didn't want to.

    2. Didn't finish... so I feel for your friend and her hubby! Will lift them in prayer!

  14. I love purses too. I also just started watching Outlander.
I'm so happy you are having your surgery. I was afraid it would be cancelled.
