The Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Thank you, Joyce, for this week's Hodgepodge!  Y'all can find her and join in HERE!!

Questions For A Most eXcellent Hodgepodge

It's Tuesday which means it's time to come up with the questions for this week's Wednesday Hodgepodge. Before I do that though, I have to figure out how to write a whole entire post on the word of the day. The April A-Z Blog Challenge is winding down, and I definitely don't want to drop the ball at this late date.

Today's word comes from another lake friend and it's a toughie. Did she choose this word because her hubs is a doc or because when it comes to letter X it's either x-ray, xerox, or xylophone?

Day 24-X is for X-Ray

Yeah. I got nothin'. How about we include the word somewhere in this week's Hodgepodge questions? Works for me and you'll need to make it work for you too.  Here we go-

From this Side of the Pond

1. Expect the unexpected on From This Side of the Pond. Here's my x-ray question...when was the last time you felt like Superman?   So long ago that I can't even remember!  What's your superpower?  These days (most days) it is sitting in front of the TV.   Animals seem to like me though, so maybe there is something there.  Explain.  I can't explain it.  Perhaps they just sense when someone cares?

2. Are you a fan of the 'superhero' type movies?  Nope.  If so what's your favorite?  I am not that into sci-fi or superhero things, though when I was a kid, I did enjoy Superman on TV, played by George Reeves, from 1952-58.

3. Have you postponed or canceled a trip to the dentist in recent weeks, and if so when do you think you'll feel comfortable going back?  Joe and I both have teeth that need to be pulled but we hadn't made the appointments yet when the shut-down happened.  How about other routine medical procedures?  I am not uncomfortable about making appointments with my doctors again.  I saw my chiropractor on Monday and have several coming up relating to my coming knee surgery. If they are good with it, I'm good with it.

4. What's something that makes you feel youthful? Something that makes you feel 'not so youthful'? Tell us why.   Gosh, I haven't felt "youthful" for a long time.  My bad knees (10 years!) make me feel not so youthful. I hope I can begin to walk again without pain once I get my second titanium knee in two weeks!!

5. I feel compelled to include some sort of corona related question in the HP these days. What's the strangest thing you've seen in relation to the virus?  It has to be masks and gloves.  Something that really struck you as odd, made you stop and think, 'Dorothy we're not in Kansas anymore?'  The thing I hate the most is not seeing smiles or facial expressions when you are shopping.  And it wasn't that long ago that someone would be dialing 911 if a person walked into a store with their face covered and with gloves on!!  I know why... you don't have to tell me.  It is just weird to me.

6. Insert your own random thought here.   My lunch bunch girlfriends are planning a tailgate luncheon next week.  Shirley has a very long driveway with lots of shade.  We will bring our own lunch and sit outside at the proper distance and enjoy lunch together.  I'm looking forward to it!!

Don't miss my Whimisacle Wednesday post today!!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. There isn't anything like pain and aches to make us feel old and un-super hero-ish, is there? The tailgate lunch sounds like fun and a great idea! I'm wondering if any of my crowd has a really long driveway? Thanks for the idea! Have a blessed day, Terri!

  2. Oh, I love the tailgate lunch idea! What a great idea...I wish I'd thought of that...and maybe I still will if we can't get back to going out to eat soon! I do have a friend stopping by this morning and we will sit outside in a shady area overlooking the pond, properly distanced, and visit for a spell. I am looking forward to that! I can't wait for you to get your new knee, and I pray all will go well and you will soon be able to go "dancing" again! (or do whatever you enjoy doing without pain!) I loved the Superman series back in the 50's that we watched. I wouldn't mind seeing those again. Such great stories. Sad about George Reeves, however. And then the newer Superman, Christopher Reeve, who became paralyzed from a horseback riding accident...so tragic. It goes to show us not to put our trust in human superheros, as they are human after all. Put our trust in Jesus, because Jesus never fails or falls. He is ALWAYS there for us! Have a blessed day. Peace and Hugs to you too!

  3. Dreaming of a Phila cheese steak... with mushroooms... first thing in the list when normalcy returns.

  4. Tailgate lunch sounds fun. I love superhero movies. I'm looking forward to our beaches opening. They blocked off a lot of the spots that you could park and watch the water.
    Have a great day!

  6. Hi Terri. It is indeed strange with the mask and gloves. And to see a long line up of tutorials on YouTube for making masks with or without sewing! Two weeks. I pray that all goes well. It will be a new thing for you to walk without pain. God bless you!

  9. Great minds think a like Terri. We need our girl friends. I figure as long as we social distance and we can in my living room, we will be ok. I sure do miss them. Hope you enjoy your lunch out!!

  10. Yes, I totally believe our fur babies are empathetic. I hadn't thought about missing others' facial expressions, but you're right. I'm so attuned to smiling it feels weird under my mask. That's a great idea about a girlfriends' tailgating party; I'm going to float this up to my son and see if they're not up for that.

  12. A tailgate lunch sounds like so much fun!! Maybe my GLOW ladies would enjoy doing that! We are backed up on doctor visits, thankfully we're not having any issues and hopefully won't have until doctors are available again.

  14. My neighbor just had her second knee done. She had the first one done back in January. Elective surgeries are happening again here and our state is opening a few things up. We'll see how it goes. Hopefully the numbers stay down and people use good sense and caution when it's called for. Stay well!

  16. Oh, you will really enjoy the gathering. I hosted a porch/patio gathering last Friday with our friends and we visited for over 3 hours. It was awesome. Hope all will go as planned for your upcoming knee surgery.

  17. You are right about the mask and gloves. My sister said the other day a guy came behind her in a checkout line with a bandanna tied around his face and she thought - a few months ago this would have scared me!
I know you'll enjoy that lunch!

  18. A tailgate picnic sounds like a great idea! I haven't been to my chiropractor and my back and neck feel it. It is strange to see so many people with masks, I agree. Enjoy your lunch with friends :)

  19. Your tailgate luncheon sounds like such fun. Great idea! Be sure and post about it and give all the details on the food. Others might like to try it.

I hear you on the masks and gloves. I couldn't seem to get my thoughts together for this question #5, but the entire upside-down situation makes me feel as if I'm not living in the US anymore, never mind Kansas!

Knee replacement #2 coming up in 2 weeks! I'm sure you are looking forward to getting that behind you and being able to move around more freely.
