The Wednesday Hodgepodge Karaoke...

Thanks to Joyce for this week's Hodgepodge!!  You can visit her and join in HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 364

1. In Monday’s post, I mentioned I would incorporate the word I was given for letter K into this week’s questions. That word was karaoke. On a scale of 1-10, how excited would you be to find out there was karaoke happening at your next gathering/outing with friends? 10=gimme that microphone!, and 1=I suddenly remembered there’s somewhere else I need to be.  How about "0"!!   Have you ever actually done karaoke?  Yes, in a family setting - not in public.  If you had to perform karaoke what would be your ‘go-to’ song?  Love Potion #9.  I think I know all the words to that one. LOL

2. How do you listen to music these days? Favorite app or do you listen the old fashioned way? Do you have music playing often in your home? Is there still a CD player in your car?  I rarely listen to music.  We have Sirius in the car and never listen to a radio station now.  There is rarely music playing in our home.  There is a single CD player in our car that we have never used.  Our old car had a 6-CD player that we used all the time but that was before Sirius.

3. The HP lands on US tax day this year. Or what used to be tax day before everything including filing your taxes was canceled, delayed, postponed or extended. FYI- filing your taxes has not been canceled, only delayed for a bit. (July 15th now, I believe.)

Besides staying away from anyone and everyone, what have you found taxing lately?  I really, really miss eating out and hugging friends.

4. You’re without power so no oven, and you can’t open your frig or freezer in order to keep what’s in there from spoiling. And you don’t have access to take out. What will you make us for dinner?  We always have soup in the pantry and a gas grill outside, so soup on the grill it is!

5.  I’ve seen this exercise going around Facebook and thought it would be a good one to include in the HP...what are five things everybody seems to love and go crazy for that you personally don’t care for?  Okra; The Bachelor on TV; the Masked Singer on TV; This is Us on TV; oysters...

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  Joe and I had our annual dermatology appointments yesterday. The doctor sent off three things she biopsied from me.   Joe was clear!  She doesn't think my three 'spots' will be anything but wanted to make sure.  I went online to the Florida Orthopedic Institute to see if my pre-op appointment is still there and it is, along with two post-op appointments.  Fingers crossed that my knee surgery will stay on the schedule for May 12.  I guess we will know by May 1st.  My physical therapy appointment is still on for April 27th, too.

I hope that things will begin to slowly open up again, little-by-little, so we can get back to our lives before so many more are ruined by job loss and worse.  Things I read are pointing to getting the population most at risk protected and then relaxing things for the healthier population.  I sure don't want our health-care professionals to be at a higher risk of infection (I did get that hurtful and ridiculous accusation by someone).  My husband is also in the higher-risk population and I don't want him getting sick either, or any of you reading this!  The virus is real, though I will never be convinced that the impetus for this world-wide lockdown is not money and politics, but that is another discussion for another time (or best, not at all!).

Thanks for your visit!!
Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

  1. I am so glad to see that your knee surgery is still scheduled and hope it stays that way.

As for your random thoughts, this virus is bringing some interesting personality issues to the surface, some not so good, others very good.

Be blessed today. You've got your head on straight, Terri, and I always look forward to seeing what you have to say.

As for oysters, I'll pass on those too!

  5. You guys are so lucky to be able to go to the doctors, here, even that is closed. The dr. is suppose to tele whatever this morning (and not really thinking that is the right way to go about doing this).

Keeping you all in prayer, Terri. smiles

  6. I never did karaoke but I do love music and listen in the car and at home too. So glad you are still on for getting your knee surgery done. I think we all have our own opinions about this virus and reasons for it, so best to keep it to ourselves. Have a good Wednesday.

  7. I have done Karaoke in public and sang "Good Ol' Rocky Top." Can you believe that? I'm so glad you've been able to hang onto your appointments so far, Terri. I have one scheduled for May 6, and I'm hoping it holds up. We need to get this country open!
    Blessings!

  9. I want to eat out and hug people again too. Actually, I want to SEE people in person, not just on Zoom. Funny, I ALWAYS have music playing in my house...it's usually just instrumental jazz, but it muffles the outside sounds and keeps my dogs from barking constantly. You see, I back up to a very busy road, and there can be banging and other noises. Every time the dogs hear a noise, they bark. So, I keep music playing, and the sounds are minimized...and the girls don't have to bark incessantly. SO glad your surgery is still moving forward. Keep us posted on the biopsy results!

  10. Hey, I'll sing 'Love Potion' right along with you ... With vigor! We watch Masked Singer every now and then -- but then I ask myself 'why?' since I don't even know who most of them are. I'm surprised how much I'm missing being able to go out to eat.

  11. I love that song (Love Potion #9) That was a good oldie. I don't do karaoke. Never had the opportunity. But I have sung in person many times in church, etc. But I love to sing. However, we don't have music on in the car or house much ever. Our CD player in the car doesn't work (actually the speakers are no good), so we can't even play the radio. When I was working I listened to Christian radio all the way to and from work and sang at the top of my lungs in the car, but hubby doesn't enjoy having the radio on...he likes to talk, about whatever HE wants to talk about...LOL. So I have to listen. LOL. At home, the TV is usually on, so if I want to hear music I listen in headphones on the computer. Sometimes I sing along until someone tells me I'm too loud. We are all going stir crazy and can't wait to go out to eat and hug people again and go to church and be with our church family. That will be a great day of rejoicing!

  12. I feel the same way you do about the virus and lockdown. It bothers me, too, wondering where all this "free" money they are giving away is coming from. Stimulus checks and an extra $600 per week for everyone getting unemployment here in PA...not to mention unprecedented numbers of people filing for unemployment. It's taking forever for them to process. We got our stimulus checks, but unemployment still hasn't kicked in. Our son-in-law is hoping to have a job when this is all over. The company he works for declared bankruptcy. They closed several plants, but so far, the one he works at is okay.

  14. Good answers, Terri. We are most definitely living in a strange new world but there is One who has every answer to all of our questions...and we may never know all the answers in this life. I do pray that your biopsy samples will be free and clear of any "bad" stuff and that your scheduled surgery will be able to be performed. enjoy the rest of your week!

    1. We started watching it and Joe hated all the back and forth from young to old so we just stopped watching. It was easier than listening to him!! LOL

  16. I love okra. You can't really live here and not : ) I hope you get a good report from the dermatologist. We both went shortly before all this started and hubs had a spot removed from his shoulder. So glad we did all that before this current mess. It's hard to know what's right. My daughter said this is day 4 of fewer than 30 new cases being diagnosed in a day in South Korea. They have been social distancing since Jan 20 and will now begin easing some restrictions. I know where my mom is there are still many new cases and deaths (NJ). I guess we don't really know how much of the lower numbers are due to people mostly staying apart. I feel like people in charge are working on a plan to get things moving again, but it is a delicate balance between health and economics. Take care and stay well!

  17. Glad you got the dermatology appointments done and hope the results come back ok. Good that your dates are still scheduled for your knee appointments. Lots of things on hold here and we're now locked down for at least another 3 weeks. One disadvantage of living in a big city - transmission is easier. Thankfully the numbers look as if they are slowing down.
