Saturday 9...

I Forgot to Remember to Forget

Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: I Forgot to Remember to Forget (1955)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
In honor of Elvis' birthday (January 8.)

1) Elvis sings that he thinks about this girl all the time. What person or topic is on your mind this Saturday?  Well, our neighbors, Jill & Murray, have invited us over for dessert and cards tonight, so our dear friends are on my mind.

2) He wants to forget the day he met his girl, but simply can't. Think about someone very important in your life. Did you know right away that they were going to be influential?  You probably get tired of me singing praises about Joe, but seriously... I knew after 15 minutes that he was special and he did (and still does) influence my life in ways I couldn't even fathom at the time.

Since this week's song is about memories, let's check on how well you recall events in your own life.

3) What was the first concert you ever attended?  Other than the high school band concerts I played in, the first "real" concert was to see Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.  I was 15 and went with my mom, who also loved him (she played trumpet in her high school band too).

4) Where did you get your first piercing? (Not only where on your body, but who did the deed and where did they do it?)  We couldn't afford to have my ears pierced, but Mom let me buy a cheap pair of self-piercers. Well, those didn't work. They kept moving around.  I got an ice cube, a potato, a needle, a match and pierced my own ears.  I was 15 or 16 (somewhere in the middle).  So there you have it.  Self-mutilation (or just a stubborn and impatient teen!).

5) What's the name of the bank where you had your first checking account?  Millersport Community Bank (hometown small).

6) Tell us about your first bicycle. I don't remember my first bike but when I was 16 I finally got a 10-speed with thin tires (just in time to start driving a car). I think my sister got it after me.

7) Who received the first text you ever sent?  I have no idea.

8) What had you been drinking when you suffered your first hangover?  I have never had a hangover.  I have never been drunk. I saw too many friends making fools of themselves, being sick, and feeling awful the next day.  Alcohol was never a big deal for me and I still never have more than two drinks in an evening. It wasn't forbidden at home.  I could have a beer with my dad, sitting at the kitchen table. I didn't need to sneak out to drink. It just wasn't a big deal.

9) Whose was the first wedding you ever attended?  Other than my own, it was probably my BFF Elaine's wedding, and I was a Bride's Maid.

  4. Where did you get your first piercing?

It was at a new shop in London which did piercings whilst you wait. You did not have to come back the following day to collect your pierced ear, or navel or ...

    God bless.

    1. You held the potato behind your ear so the needle had something firm to pierce through to. It was awkward and stupid! LOL

  6. Such a cool photo of you as a bridesmaid, Terri. Love it! And I was in college before I got my ears pierced - a birthday present from my parents.
    Blessings for a great weekend!

And then when I was 60 I got 2 more holes pierced to be able to wear all my smaller earrings. I love having 2 holes in each ear. I blogged about it of course! lol Hugs!

  9. My pediatrician pierced my ears when I was 9! Mom was worried I'd get an infection. Savannah went to a piercing studio, and her cousin went to a tattoo parlor to have her ears done. Times sure change!

  10. Oh! I love all your answers, Terri. I pierced my own ears the same way but I was 22 when I did it...didn't know you could go have it done somewhere---duh.
Hope you have a great weekend. xo Diana

  11. I am not sure if I could have pierced my ears myself. Mine were pierced in a hair salon of all places and in college my roommates and I got more piercings in our ears at the mall. It is so funny how things are different now. Loved your answers! Have a nice weekend.

  12. I NEVER get tired of hearing your and Joe's love story! I don't think I've ever suffered from a hangover -- only on account if I imbibed too much I'd a tendency to become violently ill. (Southern Comfort is not my friend …..)

  13. I think it's wonderful to hear about your love for Joe, it's refreshing. I was 16 when I first saw Dean, even at that young age I knew he was the one for me. So thankful that he felt the same for me.

  14. Great questions this week. My sister pierced my ears when I was 40 years old. She did it with a kit we got at a drug store. I have never had a hangover because I have never had any alcohol in my entire life. My step-father was an alcoholic and it really turned me off from the experience.

Have a great time with your friends tonight.

  16. I never get tired of hearing you talk of Joe. It's refreshing when I hear of so many marriage problems and woman saying unkind things about their husbands.
I can't imagine piercing my own ears - you are brave!
I've never been drunk either. My vice is food, not drink!
