Mondays do seem to roll around faster and faster these days. Having a holiday in the middle of the week might have made this one arrive even faster than usual. So, my weekend recap...
Uneventful pretty well sums up our weekend. Friday, all I did was go to Publix to pick up a couple of prescriptions. I will tell you that I was pretty proud of myself if I do say so. One of my prescriptions was changed to a different generic a few months ago. I was a little upset when the price with my insurance (for a generic) went from zero dollars for the old one to $47 for the new one, for a 30-day supply. I decided to price shop on the computer before going to pick it up on Friday and found that Publix WILL take the GoodRX discounts now (they stopped for awhile) so I printed out the coupon for my new pills, for $16.40. Pharmaceuticals are such a rip-off. I was told that this price would be good from now on and it won't go through my prescription plan. I'll be checking on ALL of my prescriptions going forward.
Saturday was a cloudy day, so we did not venture up to the pool. Instead, Joe watched a couple of the summer league basketball games so he could see how a few of the Villanova players were doing since going pro. We have also been marathon watching another British series called "William & Mary". Finished the three seasons yesterday. So sorry for it to end since we have really enjoyed it. We just love Martin Clunes and the roles he plays (especially Doc Martin).
Saturday evening, Al and Theresa popped in for a visit. They are so excited to have found out their daughter is having a boy! Their first grandchild. They are already buying things for him. Their picture will be in the August Mas Verde newsletter, taken at the July 4th potluck. It was posted on Facebook. I printed it out for them while they were here and texted it to Theresa. They are not on Facebook.
Sunday, we decided to get up to the pool since the day was so beautiful. We were not alone, but it takes a lot of people to feel like a crowd at our pool. Even the visiting grandkids were good and just having fun. Joe and I got in the pool and walked back and forth a few times, then went to the hot tub for about 20 minutes. It really felt good. Sat in the sun for awhile to dry off a bit. We were there for an hour and a half.
Beautiful sky and brilliant sun.
A view of the pool and the hot tub is straight ahead where that wall is.
The hematoma is all gone from Joe's left arm! Praise God.
Time for some new polish on those toenails.
The cats continue to be enthralled by the bird videos I put on my laptop for them to watch. So much so that Lucy actually allowed Vinny to sit next to her for a little while. I had to get a picture of that!
So there you have it!! I will say that we have found a church we want to visit. (We are both disappointed and disillusioned with the Catholic Church and have not attended for over a year now - other than Christmas and Easter.) I've actually done a good bit of research on it and think this may be one we (at least I) can be happy with. Covenant Presbyterian is only about four miles away and is part of the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA). We wanted to go yesterday, but neither one of us can walk too far right now - especially Joe, who has to sit down quickly sometimes. I think we just need to wait until he is more confident on his feet. Hopefully soon! In the meantime, morning and evening devotions, Bible reading and prayer times keep my heart full of Christ's love and promises. I do miss being part of a community of believers though.
How was your weekend? Thanks for your visit here today! Peace & hugs!

I agree with you on the prescription situation. We use OptumRX which is through our secondary insurance carrier, and all of my prescriptions but one is free...same withJim. Walking in the pool is so good and helpful when you have problems with joints...I used to take water aerobics and never felt better. I love seeing the kitties enjoying the video...they are sure fixed on it. Hope you have a good Monday and that your rainy days are gone.
ReplyDeleteMay the Lord bless your church search. We all do better when we have a community of like-minded Believers to encourage us (and we them).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that hematoma is all cleared up. What a beautiful pool area you have! Kinda wish we had that kind of set up here.
Oh, they get you coming and going with the prescriptions, don't they? Even my doctor says it's nothing but greed. Grrr! Thank heaven for Walmart's free drugs (we both get our blood pressure meds for free) and GoodRX. The pool is beautiful! I'm glad you finally got some nice weather to go enjoy it. The kitties are so pretty (and handsome, too, for Vinnie). Praying you are able to get to the church soon. I've been keeping an eye out for one to go to, as well. I love the home group I'm in for learning as I've never been in a class or group at a church that digs as deeply as we do, but I do miss worship and all the opportunities to serve others. I have a Christian & Missionary Alliance one in mind to check out and another that I know goes into Pittsburgh every Friday to minister to the homeless. Have a blessed and beautiful Monday!
ReplyDeleteThe one constant in the Catholic Church is the mass and I look at it as an individual practice for only me and the peace it gives me. When our pastor left our long time parish and the new priest was not a favorite I started going to morning mass rather than on Sundays to get back to basics. I tune out all the other "stuff" going on in the church. Hope you find what you are looking for.
ReplyDeletePraying for you in your church search. Praying this will be the right one for you and Joe. I know how hard that is. We are so thankful for the way God led us to this little church we are attending now. We would love to move closer to it (it is about 30 miles away), but that would be a huge undertaking. We shall see what the Lord will do about that. Meanwhile, we enjoy being there on Sunday mornings. Loved your post...so glad you have that pool to go to...what fun in the sun! Loved the cloudy/sunny sky. We are seeing a lot of that these days, huh? Praying for you each day. God is good, isn't He?
ReplyDeleteWe have felt like we were in Florida when we were in Georgia as we got an afternoon shower almost every day. That is unusual for that area. Glad you found a good price for your meds...that is such a big deal! And you are right, the prices are just ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteWe've had quite of few of those pop up showers which makes it hard to plan your day. We hiked yesterday morning and it wasn't too hot at all which surprised us! I sprayed all over with bug spray! haha! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteDon't get me started on prescriptions. I have a great plan right now, but when I turn 65 in a few months all things are changing. I don't know what I will do then.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are able to check out the PCA church. I used to be the Church Secretary at a PCA church here in Philly. It is a good denomination and I think you would be happy there.
Prescriptions, let's not go there, really not prescriptions but insurance...sigh
ReplyDeleteThe pool looks so inviting, smiles and I hope you find a good church you can call home, I miss that....churches up here are way to liberal left leaning for our tastes.
I have been back and forth with Good Rx...cheaper but then I don't get to meet my deductible.. so then if I get into the pricey stuff I have to shell out $300.00 to start.. It is such a ripoff..Pool sure doesn't seem over used!.... Our outdoor is still at 80...too cold as we have been having cold nites. One indoor is 86..I use that one, then we have one at 90...a bit warm but lovely when the bones ache.
ReplyDeleteThank you Masonic Village!! They take wonderful care of us.
yes, medicine can be pricey for sure. I am glad the hematoma is gone and I hope both of you are walking without discomfort soon. Pain is the worst.I suffer with my spine so I know.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of the cats and wish I still had some. I miss being able to care for them.
I've been disappointed with the church for a long while and pray for better things.
I wouldn't call your weekend uneventful, Terri. Seems like you both had some good times relaxing at the pool - that's fun! I'm so glad to know about those discount coupons that Publix now accepts. I have one that costs $60 a month, so will do some research to see if I can find some offers.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!
I've heard of GoodRX before, but just Googled it and will definitely sign up. Just this morning I met with my new endocrinologist and she's switching my script. So glad you mentioned this!
ReplyDeleteI'm praying Covenant Presbyterian will be a good fit for the both of you! I was raised in the Lutheran church, but it became really uncomfortable. Our present services are more formalized than what we enjoyed, but the fellowship can't be beat!
Praying for your church search...I will be interested to hear how it goes when you do get to visit. Who knows, we may be searching too.
ReplyDeleteWe have Humana as our prescription insurance and we pick them up at Walmart. I think we only pay $4.00 a month for most of our prescriptions.
ReplyDeleteI do hope you will soon be able to visit that church soon. One of my sisters belonged to that denomination for many years. How wonderful to have a pool so nearby!
I like the Doc Martin films. Here's a video for you cats:
