My Weekend Recap on Monday...

I don't have any pictures, but we did have a very nice and laid-back kind of weekend.

Thursday evening, Bob & Sharon invited us over for dinner.  They live next door and just returned from a month-long vacation. Sharon cooked a Southern meal (her words). She is a Lakeland native and a Southern Gal.  Dinner was very good.  She had hamburger patties in onion gravy, black-eyed peas, mashed potatoes, yellow squash casserole, and collard greens.  We played a card game and then she served peach cobbler, made with fresh peaches they brought back from Georgia.  Delicious!!

Friday morning started bright and early for me, with tests for my upcoming out-patient surgery.  Everything went great and I even got to watch what the camera saw, right along with the doctor.  I loved biology in high school and still find stuff like that to be fascinating. Anyway, all is a go for the 13th.  I was there for about 90 minutes. It wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be.

Saturday we got to sleep in, which felt great.  At noon, we met Al and Theresa for lunch at Miller's Ale House. It was fun catching up with them and seeing their vacation pictures from Daytona Beach. The food is good there.  Joe and I had ribs, Theresa had steak, and Al had chicken & steak fajitas.  Joe and I were so full, we just snacked for dinner.

Joe and I did go to the 4:00 Vigil Mass at St. Joseph's on Saturday.  It felt good and we filled out a registration to move there from Resurrection. It's official.

Sunday allowed us to sleep in again.  I made us a big breakfast/brunch of home fries, eggs over easy, sausage patties and toast.  Don't forget the coffee, and reading the Sunday Newspaper!  I got the laundry started (and finished) and made meatloaf, mashed potatoes and corn for our dinner. We started watching season one of 'The Sinner'. Season two starts this Wednesday on the USA Network and we wanted to catch up. Seems like a good detective show starring Bill Pullman.  I really like him as an actor.

That brings us to Monday. Our day is clear and that is a good thing! Last week was busy.  So how was your weekend?

Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs!!

What made you choose St. Joseph's?

  2. When I went to hospital and they showed me on the screen what the doctor saw it showed I was full of bones. Funny ... I don't remember eating all those bones?

You signed a registration to move from one church to another. I didn't know you had to do this? Am I registered at my regular church? I'll ask my priest. He keeps avoiding me because I ask too many questions. The other day I saw him hiding in the confessional. There was no one else there. I asked: Is anyone there? He replied: No !!!

    God bless.

    1. Giggle! If you get envelopes, you are registered (at least that is how it works here). They want your number for tithing and so they have to provide services when you need them.

  5. Glad you found a church that you are comfortable with.... I am still looking... so far, too much social justice and a touch of Marxism... I guess you are not surprised considering the point of view I share!! :)

    1. Well, Bunker, that's our problem with our Pope and the trickle-down, but it is everywhere (as you know). I guess we need to keep it "local" and ignore as much as we can (for as long as we can). You know I share the same point of view.

  6. Yum! Peaches...I think I'm going to have to head to the produce stand and get some today. Hooray, for finding a church! That's got to feel good. I've always liked Bill Pullman, too, and he was just the most adorable thing in "While You Were Sleeping." I watch that every time it's on because of him. Happy Monday!

I will need a pessary one of these days but prolonging that as long as possible. You are in my prayers. Wow all that good food made me hungry and I just had breakfast, lol. hugs, lj

  8. Well, all that food is very similar to the meals we enjoy around here, Jay loves his hamburger steak with gravy and also the meatloaf. I cooked a pot roast this weekend which we ate on for two days and it was one of the best roasts we've had in a long time. Perfection. Being with the friends make it all even better. I'm glad you found a church you like. Praying for successful outcome and recovery of your surgery.

  13. So happy to hear that your pre-op went so well, Terri, and that you and Joe have found a church where you are happy. That's fantastic!
My weekend? Well, we had Mom's birthday party - more about that in the one blog I'll post this week before taking the month of August off. The blog will explain why.
    Blessings, my friend!

  14. That 'Southern' supper sounds really yummy. But so does ribs and eggs over easy. Sigh. I'm never going to be skinny ... but I'm OK with that.
Thanks for updating us on your positive experience at St. Josephs!

  16. Your weekend sounded fun and delicious even without pictures! I put a pot roast, onion soup mix, carrots, and potatoes in the crockpot on Sunday morning before our two church services. It was perfection when we got home at 1:00.

I'm happy for you to have a church that "feels good."

Yea for everything looking good for your day surgery!
