Welcome Back Joyce! Happy Pi Day!!

Joyce is back and so is her Hodgepodge!  A big thank you to her for hosting this fun meme!! Join in HERE!  (And hopefully, she will have grandson photos over there for us to see!)
Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 344

  1. Best place you've been lately?  Best?  Home is best, but we did really enjoy lunch at the Captain’s Table down in Punta Gorda last weekend with our grandson.

2. What's something you should say yes to today? Or this week? Or even this year?
I should say yes to knee surgery sometime this year. Maybe this summer. We’ll see.

3. Do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day in any way, shape, or form?
If so tell us how. In Western cultures, the color green is typically associated with jealousy, nature, good luck, and growth. What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word 'green'?  Green is one of my favorite colors. I guess I think nature first but have really never given it that kind of thought. I celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a few decorations and I always wear green. My maiden name is Kelly… just a little Irish.  Gotta do it!

4. What's a product or service you love so much you'd happily be their spokesperson?
Oh gosh. Publix; Mas Verde; Tom’s Shoes; Mazzaro’s Italian Market…  Tell us what makes you such a fan.  They are all great!!

5. March 14th is Pi Day. How are your math skills?
Sadly lacking.  What's the last thing you did that required math of any kind? None since I retired, though I like to always remind people that accounting is arithmetic, not math. And most importantly do you like pie? I do like pie. What's your favorite kind? I love custard pies. With ice cream, whipped cream, or please hold the cream? Whipped cream is good, and ice cream is great with fruit pies.

6.  Insert your own random thought here.
It’s a small world. How many times have you said/thought that?  Last night, at the clubhouse for hamburger/hotdog night, we sat at a table with Sharon and Larry.  Sharon was born and raised in the same Ohio town that I was born and raised in. She is a decade older than me, but we knew the same stores, parks, etc.  She learned to swim in the same pool I learned in.  How fun to meet someone who not only knows where Washington Court House, Ohio is but actually lived there!! Needless to say, we talked long after our hamburgers and potato salad were gone!  When was the last time you said, “it’s a small world”?!

Thanks again to Joyce and thanks to you for stopping by!!  Peace & hugs!!

  1. Pi Day! I had forgotten all about that. Hmm... Now I have to come up with a clever post. How fun to meet someone from your hometown. It immediately brings a bond, doesn't it.

  3. How fun that you met a new friend with the same roots. That is always a neat thing. IF you are considering knee surgery I say go for it. It was life changing for Marvin. And he has not had to get the other knee done since he took care of the worst one first.

  5. I love "it's a small world" encounters and have had more than my share of them over the years with my travels. But I'd love to have some new ones.

Get that knee surgery out of the way. You'll feel so much better!

  12. Q5 - One thing I know about mathematics is that if you have a pie and you are not very hungry cut it in six pieces (segments) rather than eight. That way you can eat the whole pie but only six slices rather than eight.

    God bless.

  14. Knee surgery is so,ething I hope I never have to do, but it seems that the people I've known who had it really benefited from it and he healing of it went pretty quickly. Jay had his done in 2009 and it's been great for him. I love running into people like that in unexpected places!

Love all your answers, and yes, it IS a small world!! What fun to find a new friend from your home town! I love pie...most all kinds...(except strawberry rhubarb).

  19. Oh isn't it fun when you run into someone who shares that history with you! I don't remember exactly when the last time was, but it does happen a lot. Oh I hope you will be able to get your knee surgery soon, Terri. And you won't have to worry about slipping on ice! My friend's mom had both done at the same time and she's doing great!

  20. I LOVE that you met someone from your hometown! That would be amazing if I ever met someone here in State College that grew up in Manheim (besides Dick and Anthony, of course, hahaha!) I'm not sure I even own anything green to wear on St. Patricks Day. I'll have to go shopping!

  22. I love those chance meetings with people from your hometown. It is a fine way to walk down memory lane. By the way, SWMBO is blogging again. Her new blog is "A Retired Life Through Bifocals" and is listed at #17 on Joyce's blog list this week. I'm sure that she would appreciate a visit. Have a great week.
