It's a Hodgepodge full of Homes this Week....

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 329

Thanks to our hostess Joyce for this week’s Hodgepodge of questions!  Join the fun and link-up HERE!

1. What takes you out of your comfort zone?  Speaking in front of an audience.

2. Your least favorite spice?  I don't know that I have a least favorite or a favorite spice.  I use and enjoy all the ones in my cupboard.

3. What's a small change you'd like to make?  The backsplash in my kitchen.

4. Do you enjoy visiting historic homes?  Yes. If so, of the homes you've visited which one was your favorite?  I haven't been to that many, but Monticello is pretty amazing.  What historic home near you is open to visitors?  The historic homes here in Lakeland only go back to the 1920s or so, but the Lake Morton Historic Society has a tour of homes every year and many of the Craftsman style homes are open and are so well preserved.  Have you been?  I've been in many of them, yes.  Southern Living rounded up eleven of the best in the southern part of the US and they're as follows-

Monticello (Jefferson's home in Virginia), Nathaniel Russel House (Charleston SC), Swan House (Atlanta), Ernest Hemingway's home (Key West), The Biltmore (Vanderbilt home in Asheville NC), Mount Vernon (Washington's home in Virgina), San Francisco Plantation (Garyville, Louisiana), Windsor Ruins (Port Gibson Mississippi), Longue Vue House and Gardens (New Orleans), Whitehall (Palm Beach FL), and Pebble Hill Plantation (Thomasville GA)

Have you been to any on the list?  Yes.  I have been to Monticello, Hemingway's home, to the Biltmore, to Mount Vernon, and to the Longue Vue House and Gardens.  Of the homes listed which would you most like to visit?  I would go back to any of those I've toured and I would go to any of those listed that I haven't toured.  I love going in houses like that.

5. What's something you think will be obsolete in ten years?  The Fidget Spinner (probably already IS obsolete!). Does that make you sad or glad?  I have no feeling about it one way or the other.  LOL  (Just hope it won't be the Hodgepodge!!)

6.  Insert your own random thought here.  I have my Christmas shopping started, my Christmas cards almost ready to go out (early with the address change) and have begun hoarding food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The pantry is getting full and I am using floor space for canned goods now.  I love cooking for the holidays!!

We are at the farm this morning.  I'll catch up with your posts later today!  Thanks for your visit!  Peace & hugs!!

  1. Christmas shopping already (groan) giggling. I have a list for hubby, no shopping for me this year, obvious reasons of recovering from surgery, lol.

    Have a beautiful day friend.

  2. I need to look for Christmas cards. I enjoy writing them out slowly in November then mailing them all at one time in December. And yes, Fidget Spinners are already passe'.
I am glad I only spent $3 each on them for my grands.

  5. I haven't started one thing towards holiday anything. It's such chaos around here daily. I'm serious about a precooked meal next Thursday.

  6. I also enjoy going to homes like those mentioned and I have been to several. If you ever get the chance, Christmas at the Biltmore is amazing. I dont cook at Christmas any longer - the kids do it all.

  9. Oh I hope you had a nice time at the farm this morning! And at the rate of dedication to the Hodgepodge that Joyce has exhibited so far, I doubt it will be obsolete in ten years! :-) I can't believe that it's so close to Thanksgiving with Christmas just around the corner. Too soon!

  10. I love historic houses and we usually try to tour a few wherever we go. The only one I've been at from the list is The Biltmore Estate which was gorgeous!
Think of how much fun you'll have baking this Christmas, with more time to do it!

  11. We have the same #1, so I can totally empathize with that. You're totally putting me to shame with having your Christmas cards done - you've prompted me to get started.

  12. Well I'm not sure the HP will last another ten years, but still here this week : ) I am trying to think about Christmas now, but I generally just don't feel it until Thanksgiving has passed.
