Some of you have been praying 10 year old Kyler. He is on my Prayer Request and Praise List. Yesterday, (my BFF) Elaine sent me an update on how he is doing. I thought I would pass it along, though it is sad news.
Kyler's Mom and Dad have trained and practiced his care and had to do it for 24 hours (in the hospital without nursing intervention) to prove they could do it at home. Needless to say, Kyler didn't make it home for Christmas, but will get to go home this Friday, which is a joy. He is finished with chemo but the tumor in his brain has shown little change in size, though the doctor says it may yet decrease some as a result of chemo.
Sadly, he will also be under Hospice care when he goes home, so he is terminal. His grandmother, my friend, has been in Ohio for months now to help out and comes home briefly to pay bills etc. She looked really tired and down.
Please pray for a painless passing for Kyler and for God to give the rest of the family strength and peace. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for them.
Thanks for continuing to pray for him.
Many thanks to all you prayer warriors who have had Kyler on your prayer lists. Thank you!
On a brighter note, we are making plans for a visit from our nephew, Lou, his wife, Peggy and their three daughters and one son-in-law!! (Joe's older brother's oldest son.) They will be arriving at the end of the month for a long weekend!! The kids will be staying over in Orlando, closer to the theme parks, and Lou and Peg will be staying with us. Their youngest turns 21 that weekend, and is the reason for the family vacation and celebration. Hard to believe! I went to their wedding as Joe's date, way back when. It's the first time I got to meet most of the D'Orsaneo family. Wow. Time flies....how many times have I said that?!
Several years ago, but the whole family.
Lexie, the birthday girl, Jackie, Nikki and Nikki's husband Dimitri
We are really looking forward to seeing them, and seeing them all together. These girls are all champion soccer players and all went to college on soccer scholarships. We are so proud of them. We get them all for one day, here in Lakeland, and feel blessed that the kids wanted to come spend a day with us. We will make the most of it!!
I'm seeing a new orthopedic doctor today, about my knees. This one is with a large orthopedic group over in Tampa. I'm hoping they may be a little more innovative than the docs I've been seeing here. A friend of mine had a torn ACL and her doctor was from this group. She did great and always sings their praises. I'll let you know what he says. The latest injections I got (Orthovisc) are not working as well as they did the first time.
That's all I have for today. Thank you again to those who have prayed for Kyle. Peace & hugs!

AWWW...that is so sad about Kyler. I am keeping them in prayer...please keep us updated about the new doctor (I know you will, smiles)---what a great looking family you have. Have a beautiful Thursday, friend. Smiles
ReplyDeleteGreat family pics. Hope you get some good news about your knees from new doc.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
My heart and prayers go out to Kyler and his precious family. Happy you are getting to visit with Joe's brother's beautiful family. What fun!
ReplyDeleteSo sad about Kyler.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have fun with the family visit, I know. You are sweet to open up your home.
I hope the new Dr is very helpful!
I'm putting Kyler on my prayer list. St. Peregrine is going to hear from me a lot this year, looks like!
ReplyDeleteSuch a sad time for your friends and their family. I can't even imagine. It is one thing when cancer takes an adult, but a child...inconceivable.
ReplyDeleteOh what a fun time you have to look forward to when your company comes. So happy that they want to spend time with you and Joe.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry you're having such a time getting the help you need for your knees. I do pray that the new doctors will be able to help you better.
Praying along as I read your blog, I was struck with how strange it is with life that while some experience great joy, at the same time other are in desperate times of pain. But that is life. Our Lord has good purposes in it all that we cannot see with our earthy, human eyes.
