Monday Rundown on Tuesday....
Joe is still feeling good. He will see his cardiologist this coming Monday and we'll (hopefully) find out that the new meds and dosages are working for him.
My appointment with the new orthopedic doctor went well (Joe went with me). I really like Dr. Mike Miranda, at Florida Orthopedic Institute. We talked for awhile, looked at my X-rays and made an appointment for three months to talk seriously about knee replacement. I really think he would have scheduled it soon, but I need some time to wrap my head around eight weeks of rehab and he doesn't want me at work during at least six of those weeks. I think we can fix things so I can work from home and not have to use all of my sick leave. There are lots of things to consider and prepare for. Yikes!
One of Joe's nurses (Mark) last week told us about a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant over in Brandon, called Philly Phlava. Of course, they had been talking about sports and the Philadelphia teams. After my appointment, since we were over that way, we went on an adventure and found Philly Phlava. We both had a cheese steak sandwich that tasted pretty darn authentic. They had Eagles, 6ers, Phillies and Flyers posters and jerseys hanging from the walls...it felt like "home". I fotgot to take a photo until mine was half gone, but.....
Back to work today, with lots to catch up after my time off to be with Joe. No big deal. I wouldn't have it any other way (unless he didn't get sick at all!).
Thanks again to those who offered prayers for Joe and me! The power of prayer is amazing! Thanks for your visit! Peace & hugs.

Mmmm that steak looks good. I haven't had a cheesesteak for a long time.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked your new Dr and your appt went well.
Have a great day!
Prayers continue Terri, for both you and Joe. I can talk to you about knee replacement for sure, having had both of mine done at the same time. I would do it again, and hope your experience will be as good as mine. Will be anxious to know also, if Joe's new meds are working. It is 17 here now, so enjoy your Florida sunshine for me today too!
ReplyDeleteDr. Miranda said he will not do both knees at once. :(
DeleteSo glad that Joe is still feeling well. Knee replacements do take time to recover from but everyone I've talked to who has had one would do it again. It would be great if you could work from home. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteMy step-mom had knee replacement and you are right the recoup period is the hardest. When she looks back she is glad she had it done. Glad to hear the good news on Joe.
ReplyDeleteOuch on the knee replacement...my husband had two done on the right knee. (once in the Marines and then another one 20 yrs later)
ReplyDeleteKeeping you in prayer and that sandwich looks so good!!!
Oh, so glad Mr. Joe is doing better and you all had a good day together. But, OUCH about having the knee replacement. I'm hoping and praying that my bum knee holds out for many more years. I'm such a big ole wimp!!! Happy Tuesday....your day will probably fly by with all the work you have to catch up on!!
ReplyDeleteSo glad to read that Joe's better and back home. Sorry I haven't commented so far, but I have been following and praying for you and Joe. Lee and I took a spur-of-the-moment trip up to see Katie, and I only have my cell with me...and it won't let me reply to postings. I hope all remains well for him. Hate those afibs, too. My son, Doug, had the ablation years ago after a severe attack, and hasn't had any problems since. It was a real easy procedure for him. Continuing prayers. Hugs....
ReplyDeleteI hate the thought of any surgery but sometimes it just has to be done. ~sigh~ I'm so happy for you that Joe is home and doing well, sounds like you had a nice day together even tho it did include a doctors visit. At least the food was good! Hope you have a Terrific Tuesday! God Bless
ReplyDeleteSounds like you'll definitely Knee'd the time off to recover....haw haw haw!
ReplyDeleteSamantha, you made me laugh at that one!!
DeleteSo glad to hear things are going well. I can't imagine having knee or hip replacement surgery, but I know folks do it all the time now. I hope all goes well and you are pleased with the results. Keep us posted as to when.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear good reports on both of you. A friend had a total knee 2 weeks ago Monday, and on Sunday he was out on his tractor plowing the driveway. Not a good idea, but he says the surgery pain is much less than he was living with before. I expect you will also have good results.
ReplyDeleteMy husband had one knee replaced several years ago and he was told the same thing, to plan on taking 8 weeks off from work, with maybe a part-time return after 6 weeks. That worked out very well for him.
ReplyDeleteOne piece of advice he gives people when they are planning on this surgery, be sure to do the exercises for your knee that they give you BEFORE the surgery. They go a long way toward helping with the recovery afterwards. You do yourself a favor that way.
Keeping you in my prayers Terri. That would be wonderful if you could work from home while you recover.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean about needing time to wrap your head around the surgery and recovery. I tore my rotator cuff seriously a few years ago. It was a process of several months before I could come to terms with it and the necessary surgery and recovery time. It was a HUGE hurdle for me.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad your Joe is feeling better.
Brandon is where our Jeremy lived when he was in Florida for seven years!
