We had such a great time visiting with our son and daughter-in-law in St. Augustine over this past weekend!!
They have a 40-foot "camper" parked just a few blocks from the beach in a lovely RV Resort. We were given the master bedroom for the long weekend, which has a California King bed. Rough camping.... LOL. They stayed in the other bedroom, which sports four bunk beds. There is a living room area and an eat-in kitchen with a full-sized refrigerator. It was more like staying in a luxury suite in a 4-star hotel.
After thinking about selling it or moving it, they have decided to keep the camper and stay in this location for awhile, so they will work on a more permanent stabilization system and will build some steps, etc. It is a great get-away place and I think we will be invited back....
We arrived mid-afternoon on Friday and after unpacking, playing with the grand-pups a bit and seeing the camper, we took off for some shopping at the St. Augustine Premium Outlets. Of course we all found things to buy and spent most of our money in the CROC store. Yes, we love our CROCS.

Blogging friend, Linda, mentioned to me that her favorite restaurant in St. Augustine is O'Steen's. We found it and tried to go there after our shopping, but it was PACKED. We decided to go back to the camper and order take-out from a local Italian restaurant that Joey and Darlene like. It was delicious.
The next day, we decided to play tourist and get trolley tickets for a tour of the city. Halfway through the tour, it started raining. We stayed somewhat drier on the trolley than if we had been walking so we were happy to get back to the trolley depot and then head for home. This time we did stop at O'Steen's, put our name on the one-hour waiting list and went shopping in the antique store next door. I found a Pyrex bowl and also a bowl made of Murano glass!! We got them both! I also found this little plastic pitcher, which I didn't purchase but had to take a photo of. My grandmother had one just like it in red. There was always cold water in it, in her refrigerator.
They finally called our name and we were seated for dinner. I have to say thanks to Linda for referring us to O'Steen's! The food was delicious. I could have made a meal on just the hush puppies. We were all very happy with our choices. I had lightly battered shrimp, a cup of clam chowder, fries, beets and those yummy hush puppies.
We watched a couple of movies together before turning in. Sadly, the weekend went much too fast. We had such a good time. Driving home, we had some horrid rain with poor visibility for quite a stretch. The only thing that saved us was taking the toll road around Orlando. Traffic was lite and we saw no accidents. Everyone actually slowed down and drove sensibly.
I got the laundry done and am back to work. The audit starts today. This too will pass.
Have a great Monday! Thanks for stopping by! Peace & hugs!

What a lovely getaway....sounds wonderful and nothing like spending time with family! HOPE your week isn't too hard.
ReplyDeleteSounds like an enjoyable weekend. Glad you made it back safely through the unsettling weather. I cannot drive in those torrential downpours, I always have to pull over. My anxiety levels go through the roof. Stay calm through your audit! Enjoy the week.
ReplyDeleteLove the grandpups. They are so cute and photogenic. I'm sure that you'll be invited back now that they've decided not to sell - a wise choice I think. I haven't had hush puppies for years. Your food looks delicious. Well, you know a place is good if you have to be put on a waiting list. Good luck with your audit.
ReplyDeleteTerri, What a delightful sounding weekend with loved ones. I enjoyed the photos. Your dinner sounds delicious and I do love the little pitcher that reminds you of years gone by. Hope your day goes smoothly.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend. Grandpups are so adorable.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Sounds like a nice weekend. Love St. Augustine...prayerfully, the audit process won't be bad. Blessings
ReplyDeleteSo glad you got to eat at O'Steens, as they really do have good food. Hoping the audit goes quickly and that all is in order. Then I will be able to hear a loud 'sigh' from Lakeland! Family time is always the best time. Hugs
ReplyDeleteIt's always great when we get to be with our children. Florida's RV parks are some of the best cuz they are set up to be communities rather than transient tourist stops. So glad you got a mini-vacation before the audit.
ReplyDeleteYour trip to St. Augustine sounds divine! I love the place :)
ReplyDeleteThose deluxe campers really take all of the "roughing it" out of camping, don't they? We've seen some that look like mansions on wheels...
Have a great Monday.

PS I forgot to say that Ed and I love our Crocs, too. That's about all we wear nowadays :)

Crocs! Aarghhh! :) I still have my one orange one on my keychain. Think of you every single time I unlock the house. Love this post. If they decide to sell, lemme know -- you know how much I love St. A. Keep plugging and make it a Happy week. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful weekend, and just what you needed before the audit. Hope all goes well!
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was a wonderful weekend Terri! And all with some of the best things in life: family time, shopping, great food and beautiful sights. Happy week to you my Dear! xoxo
