A Tickled-Pink Hodgepodge!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 207

Thanks to Joyce for another great Hodgepodge!  Click HERE to join this Meme and link in!

1. Do you wear your heart on your sleeve, or keep your emotions tucked in tight?  I think they are on my sleeve for all to see.  I would make a terrible poker player!  I cry if I just see someone else crying, even if I don't know what they are crying about. I can't lie because my face gives me away. And I think (hope) love shows in my eyes when I see loved ones.

2. How did you meet your closest friend?  I am blessed with several close friends, but (other than my #1 bestie, Joe) I met Elaine when she knocked on our door to introduce herself when we moved in across the street from her.

3.  Pink lemonade, grilled salmon, cotton candy, pink grapefruit, a strawberry milkshake, or raspberry sorbet...of the pink foods listed, which one is your favorite? Least favorite? Which one have you most recently consumed?  My favorite and one I eat nearly every day is pink grapefruit.  Least favorite would be the strawberry milkshake.  There is only one milkshake flavor, and it's chocolate!

4. When were you last 'tickled pink' over something? Explain.  I was tickled pink over the most recent news from my sister, about Bruce.  He is making connections now - most recent is that he understands that the catheter is for his bladder. Big step. (Sorry if that is TMI.)  He also said all 12 months, correctly and in order, for the therapist yesterday, and he is eating ice chips with a spoon, on his own.  They are talking about moving him to another facility for more intense therapy. Please keep praying!

5. Are you a fan of television talk shows? Daytime, nighttime, or both? What's your favorite?  I am not really a fan of talk shows.  I do catch Ellen now and then, but only if her guest(s) is someone I like.  I used to be an Oprah fan, until she turned ugly. Now I refuse to watch her and will never see a movie she is in. Ever.  I don't stay up late enough for late night talk shows, but used to like Johnny now and then.

6. When was the last time you wanted to ask a question, but felt too foolish to do so?  Oh heck, that probably happens every day, but I usually go ahead and ask anyway! LOL

7. My favorite sandwich for lunch, right now is, Braunschweiger and cheese, with mustard. I know, I know, hardly anyone likes it, but I happen to love it and indulge every now and then.  My late mother-in-law loved it too, and I always think of her when I eat it.  We used to share it when she visited in the winters.  We loved it on crackers with cheese, too!  It was like our private little dirty secret.  It really isn't good for you.

8.  Insert your own random thought here. We are going to start having a potluck breakfast once a quarter, at work, to celebrate staff birthdays.  Do any of you have a really good (tested) breakfast casserole recipe you are willing to share?  There are a lot of them on Pinterest, but I really need one that I know will be good (some on Pinterest are just NOT good).  Something that I can put together the night before and bake it in the morning, before leaving for work.  It would have to be kept warm, then, for a couple of hours, too.  Not asking for much, am I!!  Help??!!  I know there will be lots of donuts, bagels and muffins brought in, so I was thinking of protein....  you can email me with it:  teelee@tampabay.rr.com

Thanks for reading my Hodgepodge answers today!!  Joyce always gives us food for thought!  Wishing you a good Wednesday!  Peace & blessings!

  1. I make a sausage and egg casserole that everyone loves. Easy too because you need to make it the night before and let it sit overnite. Then you bake it in the morning. I will email you the recipe if it's not something you already have. I love grapefruit too, but you and I are definitely in the minority on that in the HP today : )

  2. Hi there! So nice to be visiting your blog. I totally agree, chocolate is the only real flavor of milk shake!
    Loved reading your hodgepodge!

  3. I agree about Oprah. Chocolate milkshakes are delicious! I was craving one the other day when I made hamburgers and oven baked fries for dinner. Since I'm not supposed to drink cow's milk anymore, I used vanilla almond milk with Hershey's chocolate syrup and shook it in a jar. It was pretty close ;)
Glad to hear the improvement your brother-in-law is showing. I pray he continues to improve and for his whole situation.

  4. I've just sent a yummy breakfast egg-and-sausage with crescent roll recipe to your email address. It's always a hit with people. You're good to want to provide something besides the usual donuts, etc.

  5. I agree, as far as I'm concerned, chocolate is the ONLY flavor of milkshakes :)

I don't care much for Oprah, these days, either! Ed never did like her.

My breakfast casseroles sound pretty much like the ones mentioned in the above comments. Hope you find a good one!

  6. I'm with you...no more Oprah for me, either. I love watching Jimmy Fallon, if I can stay up that late! He always makes me laugh!

  7. I'm like you, Terri, never found a good breakfast casserole recipe, either. Guess that's because I've never eaten a good one, as well :) Hope you find a good one.

So....clue me in.....I've never watched much of Oprah, so I'm curious about what is it about her that turned "ugly". What happened? I'm so out of it. Used to watch Johnny every night, then after he left, late night never measured up again.....watched Jay some for his funny newspaper clippings, and watched Dave mostly to see Jack Hanna....all of them are just meh for me anymore....Fallon is the best of the bunch now imho. I am looking forward to seeing what Colbert does with the spot, though. Hope springs eternal.

    1. Regarding your question about Oprah: Political and racial issues that I don't agree with, and would prefer to not converse about here.

  8. Strawberry milkshakes are on the bottom of my list too. FANTASTIC news about Bruce! He's still in my prayers! What did Oprah do? I've never really watched her so I guess I don't pay attention to her. Or, I live under a rock. LOL I have a breakfast casserole that you put together the night before and bake in the morning. But you probably already have it. It's the one with sausage and eggs and bread cubes. Let me know if that sounds like a new one to you and I'll send it your way.

    1. Pam, that sounds like a new one. Can you send it to me? Oprah just got a little too political and racist for me. When something makes me really angry, I have to just get away from it. She used to handle her political and racial views as neutral (to the public, anyway) but she kind of went off the deep end for me. I am disappointed in her.

  9. I know the casserole that Joyce mentioned and it is good. Once my sister Diana and I made a cheese board with different kinds of cheese and even cottage cheese. We didn't think people would eat it, but we didn't take anything home. Let us know what you decide to make.

Wow to number 4! I also think that we're at the age that we don't care what people think about what we ask. Enjoy what's left of Wednesday.

  10. So glad to hear the improvements that Bruce is making each day. Praying that he continues to make a full recovery. I haven't bought Braunschweiger in years but I always enjoyed it.

  11. Terri - love all your pinks! I do love grapefruit but it does not agree with me. I've never heard of Braunschweiger before. Praying for Bruce.

  13. Ellen is just the best! She always makes me laugh!
I'm with you: I'd make a terrible poker player! :)

  14. Salmon would have been my choice out of those foods. I also love grapefruit too. I don't even know what Braunschweiger is! I remember my dad used to eat something called Head Cheese and it looked disgusting.
