A Love-Filled Hodgepodge...

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 208

From our Hodgepodge Hostess, Joyce:  Hello Hodgepodgers! Here are this week's questions...answer on your own blog, then hop back here  to share the love. See you there!

1. Have you ever written a love letter? Have you written one recently? Had one written to you? Did you keep it?  No, no, no, and nothing to keep.  This sounds really sad, doesn't it?  I've gotten lots of beautiful cards, expressing love, and I do keep those!  But letters...no. I write a little love note for Joe, each morning when I leave, on our dry-erase white board. Maybe that counts?

2. What's a movie that ends in a way you especially love?  I LOVE "While You Were Sleeping", and "Sleepless In Seattle", just to name two!

3. Something that makes your heart sing? And for those of you who are parents, I mean something besides your children that makes your heart sing?  I can say, for sure, that Joe makes my heart sing, and so does art, as in paintings, photography, and drawings, etc., not a man named Art!!  LOL

4. What's the last event you had to attend, phone call you had to make, routine task you needed to complete, or meal you had to prepare, that you did do, but only half-heartedly?  I have come to hate cooking for two, so I'll choose preparing a meal.  I just don't go to events I don't care about anymore. Of course, cleaning the house has been low on my list lately, too. Sigh.

5. Tuna fish salad-yay or blech? If you said yay, how do you like your tuna salad prepared? Hey, this is the Hodgepodge, right?  I love tuna salad, and sometimes just add mayo to the tuna. I also like it with celery, pickles and egg, though.  Subway and Jimmy John's both do great tuna subs!

6. What's something you 'know by heart'?  My accounting software, at work.  The QWERTY keyboard. A couple of songs on the piano.....

7. In the spirit of Valentine's Day, what two or three word phrase would you write on a conversation heart for someone you love? That someone could be a spouse, child, parent, cousin, bestie...anyone at all whom you love.  'Dear One'  (would apply to several who are dear to me!)

8.  Insert your own random thought here. If you are connected to me on Facebook, you probably know that one of our cats (Lucy) bit through my thumb (including the nail) yesterday morning, while I was trying to get her to take a pill.  We have been successful in the past, but this morning, she was like a she-devil.  I had to call the doctor and go in for a prescription.  Antibiotics for 10 days.  My doc said the human mouth, a cat's mouth and a dog's mouth are all full of horrible bacteria.  Anytime a bite breaks the skin, you will need an antibiotic.  I called our Vet, Dr. Jill Davis, and she is coming to the house Thursday evening to give Lucy a shot, and she will administer the pill for us.  Good grief, it has been a trial!!  Before anyone gives advice, let me just say that I have had cats since I was 16 years old.  I have a half dozen plastic pill poppers; I've tried greenies; I've tried cheese and butter; I've tried crushing and liquifying; I've had instructions from Dr. Jill and from her Tech, Sandy.  Three of our current four cats are not hard at all to give medicine to, but Lucy was a feral and she is not a cuddle kitty. She fights us if we try to contain her.  She also has a skin thing going on, and needs an antibiotic, too.  I've never been bitten before, though.  This was a first, in a long, 47-year run of loving and caring for cats.

Isn't she pretty?  She doesn't look vicious!

I appreciate your time today!  Thanks for checking in, and for leaving a comment!  I look forward to reading your posts!  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. Aww - sorry to hear about your poor finger! The sweetest cat can become a tiger when trying to get meds down them.
I love tuna too and we often get the tuna sub from subway. I haven't tried JJ's tuna sub, but will keep that in mind!

  2. Wow, I'm glad you've gotten on an antibiotic quickly. I have no cat experience (except LOTS of farm cats), so no advice to give!

I too love both of those movies. How sweet that you leave a love note for Joe on the white board each morning!

  3. Awww Lucy is so pretty. Hope you heal fast.

I love tuna too but not with egg. When we go out for subs I usually get tuna. Yum.
    Have a great day!

  5. Sleepless in Seattle, You've got mail, Under the Tuscan Sun are 3 good ones. No love letters here. I used to give them to Jim, but since he didnt, I stopped. Tacky huh? lol He is not a romantic, mushy type at all. Lucy is beautiful, but biting is bad. Hope you heal fast. We have the same problem with Spotty...she was born outdoors and lived there for several months and she is 'gun shy' at best. We are going to have to take to the vet. We dont have any that make home visits, you are lucky there.

  6. Oh wow, sorry about your thumb! I forgot about the keyboard. So happy I had two years of typing in high school. Who knew how important that would be to us one day : )

  7. II know you didn't want any advise, but I've got one of those, too, so I'm going to suggest a monkey wrench and visegrips. Seriously, hope your thumbnail get feeling better real soon. Hugs

  8. Wow, Lucy's sweet looks are deceptive! Sorry about the bite and ensuing course of antibiotics. :-( Yes, I'd definitely let the vet handle that cat. And I'm surprised that you kept your love for Art a secret from us. (I thought that was so funny!) And it is a good thing you love art, considering where you work. Have a wonderful day, Terri. I hope the pain from the bite isn't too severe.

  10. I forgot hodgepodge Wed. again. I love the movie "Sleepless in Seattle" too. I'm also a fan of Subway's tuna salad subs. Subway has a lot of items I like. I could eat there often. So sorry Lucy bit the hand that feeds her. Cat bites are dangerous. You have a great day. Tell Joe we said "HI".

  11. Yikes! Sorry to hear about your kitty bite. I have wonderful cats and dogs, but NONE of them like when I have to give them medicine. I too have tried all the gadgets, tried when they are sleepy, tried when not looking ,etc. It's always a challenge! They just don't get that it's for their own good!

  12. What an ordeal with the cat! Sorry!

I have not eaten tuna fish at Subway or any restaurant I don't guess. It is one thing I just don't think I'd want to eat prepared by someone I didn't know.

  13. Absolutely love "While You Were Sleeping", now I think I may just have to watch that one today!!! I will have to try Subway's tuna someday. I know Lucy didn't mean to hurt you.....((HUGS))

  16. I would think that your answer for number1 counts as a whole drawer full of love letters. I wouldn't give you any advice about your cats, because you know more about them than I do. Animals can be difficult when it comes to taking medicine, having baths and going to the vet's.

  17. My hubby (who is NOT a cat-lover) says that if cats were bigger, they would eat us... Just sayin'

So sorry about this unfortunate episode. Some children and animals are just rebels by nature!
