Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 190
190? Is
that right? Apparently so. Whoohoo! Go us! Answer the questions on your own
blog then scoot back HERE tomorrow to add you link to the party. Who
thinks we should have some sort of giveaway when we hit 200?
1. I'm celebrating a birthday this week so a question relating to aging feels appropriate. Douglas MacArthur is quoted as saying, 'You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope, as old as your despair." Would you agree? If not why not? I think you are as young (or old) as you feel, and that is basically what he is saying. I agree.
2. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth day and month? Not necessarily in your birthyear, just the same date/same month. On December 11th, 1913 - "Mona Lisa," stolen from the Louvre Museum in 1911, was recovered
3. Describe a time or circumstance where you wanted to 'have your cake and eat it too.' I really can't think of anything specific. Don't we all aspire to that now and then, though?
4. What's something you do that makes you feel young? Something that makes you feel old? Walking makes me feel old, because my knees hurt. Texting with our grandchildren makes me feel young and "with it"!! :)
5. When did you last do something that was 'a piece of cake'? Doing payroll is a piece of cake for me. Driving is easy for me. Praising God is easy for me....
6. Beef, wine, and cheese all improve with age. What's something else you'd add to that list? (not necessarily food or beverage) Good relationships.
7. If I were to have a giveaway when we hit Volume 200, what should I give away? By my calculations we'll hit Volume 200 on November 26th, the day before Thanksgiving, which means whoever wins would have whatever it is in time for Christmas. If you decide to do a giveaway, and I happened to win, I would be pleased just to have won something and would treasure whatever you decide to gift!
8. Insert your own random thought here. That last question brought back a memory. My mom was not a good gift receiver. She never wanted anyone to spend money on her. It drove my dad nuts. He would get her a Christmas gift, and she would always return it. He felt so bad, he had "his girls" get her something. I remember telling her one year that she needed to love her gift and keep it and use it and be happy about it. Later in life, she did become a better receiver. Maybe that is why I am always happy with anything anyone wants to give to me. What a blessing to have someone pick something out just for me. How could you not love it? It really is the thought that counts the most!
Thanks to Joyce for another good Hodgepodge, and happy birthday!!
Thanks for stopping by! Be blessed!

You will not grow old because of your loving, giving spirit. You are an encourager to everyone, young or old. Not sure what day your birthday is, but I wish you the best one ever. I feel young when my grandchildren want to spend time with Nana. I just lately have started feeling old at times...but I am! lol
ReplyDeleteMy birthday is not until December (11th), Linda. This week is Joyce's birthday. YOU are still a spring chick, Linda! Thank you for your sweet words!
DeleteI was just commenting on Carol's blog and realized I had gotten it wrong on yours....duh!
DeleteI love presents : ) Texting is a good answer. I hope whatever the 'next thing' is I can catch on as quickly and easily as I have with texting. Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteInteresting tidbit about your mom. My mom only wanted gifts that could be consumed. Everything else she considered frivolous. She would go crazy in my house. Lol. And I sure agree about praising God and what you said about texting with the grandkids. :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't know that about your mom, Terri. I agree with you whole heartedly about treasuring the gift that someone took time to pick out just for you. When I first learned to sew, I made Mom a dress....it was hideous, really, but she wore it. which pleased me to no end. God bless her heart. Have a great Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was much like your Mom. Though she did like giving gifts to others. The first year after we were married she amused my husband by giving him a knife and explaining over and over that it had only cost a dollar. :)
ReplyDeleteDoing payroll would never be a piece of cake for me. Good think we all have different gifts, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteMy residents range from late 60's to late 90's. Regardless of their actual age, some seem so much younger because of their attitude and approach to life. :)
#4 made me smile because you are 'with it' while texting.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bad gift receiver too. But I love giving. I just don't like when people spend their hard-earned money on me. Besides there's nothing I need. I tell my girls to spend that money on my grandkids instead. That would make me happier.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that doing payroll is easy for you. Math has never come easy for me. We need people who like and are good with math!!
ReplyDeleteI love your answers, especially the answers for numbers 6 and 8. Well, I love getting presents. The other day I was thinking how incredible it is how easily we can commicate worldwide using such small devices!
ReplyDelete"Good relationships" is a great answer to #6!
ReplyDelete"Doing payroll is easy"? You must be very good with math :) Would you like to come over and balance my check book :)
I had forgotton all about the HP. Great questions and answers. Blessings
ReplyDeleteLove your #4 I feel young and 'with it' too when I'm doing anything technology related with my girls or the kids at school! Good one!
ReplyDeleteLove your answers - so Mona Lisa was stolen - I did not know that - and I saw your picture on throwback Thursday and may I say you are a beautiful gal.
