It's Finally Friday!
Friday seems to have taken longer than normal to get here, but here it is!!
Last night was Lakeland's Christmas Parade. We have been here almost 25 years, and have never gone downtown for the parade. But, it is broadcast on our local TV station. Joe and I watched it from the comfort of the living room, in our PJs.
We thought the best float was done by our local Catholic High School. I used to work there, as the business manager, and am friends with the art teacher who heads up doing their float. I hope they win the first place prize this year!!
We had the Clydesdale Horses in the parade this year, and also the Geico what-day-is-it camel (a Google photo)!! That was fun!
A Facebook friend posted some photos of the parade, and I copied a couple to share here. Bill Mutz is the photographer, and they were taken from the Barnett Park. I chose the Lakeland banner, ahead of Lakeland High's marching band, and then the beautiful snow globe float, done by Santa Fe art students.
I had a nice time with Cindee and Shirley, at lunch yesterday. We caught up on our Thanksgivings, and Christmas plans to come.
Saturday is my DAR Chapter's Christmas meeting/luncheon at Eagle Brook Country Club. Sunday, Joe and I may go over to Tarpon Springs. Did I mention it is in the 80s again here? Had to turn the air conditioning back on last night. It took some time to get used to hot weather at Christmas, when we moved down here from the frigid north, but it doesn't seem weird anymore to see people in shorts on a Christmas float.
Not much else to report. I'm just happy that the weekend is here (almost), and that our Christmas shopping is done (except for a couple more things I need to pick up for Joe). I love shopping with Amazon Prime!!
Wishing you a good Friday and weekend ahead! Thanks for stopping by! Peace, love & hugs.

You are so organized. I wish I were!
ReplyDeleteLove the parade and that snow globe! Whose was that??? It is just wonderful!
OOOO! That globe float is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOHHHH LOVE THE GLOBE! Sorry for shouting. Have a Blessed Friday!!
ReplyDeleteI love the globe float! I enjoy watching parades on tv instead of in person too. Too crowded, too noisy, and I'm short so I can never see. lol Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThe parade sounds like such a good one. I love that snow globe float! Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe parade looks like it was fun and loved the snow globe too. Hope you have a good weekend. You have so many events to attend, I always wonder when you rest! lol
ReplyDeleteChristmas parades are so much fun!!! The evening they had the parade it was so cold, the band's brass instrument's mouth pieces froze up, and the band kept marching and starting to sing the Christmas carol that they were playing. There's lots of hope for the future generations!!
ReplyDeleteHey you know what - your birthday is the same as my brother's was and my twin niece and nephew! Is that off the suject or what? sandie
ReplyDeleteYou don't get to feel the contagious excitement of being there, but your way is the best way to watch a parade. In comfort. The art students did a fantastic job on that snow globe. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like shopping Amazon too, but it's almost impossible to buy for the hubby and have it delivered here. He beats me to the mailbox everyday and if a package arrives, he wants to open it or ask what it is. He's terrible. I've told him several times, when it's Dec. --- DON'T ASK QUESTIONS!! lol
You both have a good weekend.
I love that snow globe float! I agree with you that watching things like this on TV is much more comfortable. Besides, I can hear the music from the WEBN fireworks a lot better.
ReplyDeleteIs Vinny still behaving himself more or less?
Chatty Crone sent me your way!!
ReplyDeleteI'm from St. Augustine and also DAR!!
Now living in Atlanta - but spend Christmas at home for the festivities and to be with Mom who is still there!
love the parade. I was born in Eustis!! Close to you!!
I liked the glass globe float.
