Friday Five.... on Friday the 13th!
1. Tonight is a members' opening reception, for the new Stephen Knapp exhibit. I have never seen anything like his art, ever. He puts fused glass and mirrors on the wall, and using ONE light, creates an amazing 'painting' out of light. Amazing. He will speak about his work for an hour, before the reception. I am so looking forward to his lecture! You can see some of his work HERE.
2. I'm getting excited about having time off for Christmas, and even more excited about spending some time with our two grandchildren!! We're going to Naples on Saturday, the 21st and coming home on Monday, the 23rd. It will be fun seeing everyone open the gifts we take down for them.
3. We went to Lowe's and Sam's Club last night, after work. We have a yard full of fire ants and needed to get some ant killer to spread around. I'll do that on Saturday. No snow and ice to send the ants farther below ground. They are everywhere (outside - thankfully not inside!). Picked up some blueberries at Sam's Club, and some melting chocolate, to make some candy with - for gifts. Now I don't have any excuses for not getting started on that project!
4. I haven't heard, yet, whether there are still pecans left to sell for the DAR Chapter fund raiser. If there are, I'll be going very early to the Farmer's Market in our downtown district, to help get rid of them, tomorrow morning. I don't mind going and know it will be fun, but I really hope they are gone and we don't have to set up. Am I awful for just wanting to sleep in? Note added later.... I ran into the DAR member in charge of pecans, when I was out to lunch and running errands today, and I will be needed at the Farmers' Market in the morning.
5. My boss asked me to go to lunch with her yesterday, and then she picked up my tab! We just walked across the street, to The Red Door. It was very nice. We didn't talk business, we talked books and family. Very enjoyable and the food was much more tasty than what I took to eat at my desk.
Wishing you a good Friday!! Fridays that fall on the 13th have never been unlucky for me. It doesn't bother me at all - are you superstitious about it? Thanks for stopping by. Peace, love & hugs.

I didn't even realize it was 'Friday the 13', but I'm not superstitious anyway! Have a great weekend--and thanks for sending me the link to your blog...again :)
ReplyDeleteNope..not superstitious. Oh..my son would love the Stephen Knapp exhibit. He loves all that abstract stuff. Have a blessed day!!!
ReplyDeleteThe art exhibit looks awesome. Very different!
ReplyDeleteUgh I hate ants. Ours come univited inside every year. Hope you get rid of yours in the yard.
Enjoy your weekend!
Enjoy the exhibit, looks interesting!
ReplyDeleteThat art is really cool! I'd love to see it in person. Hope you can sleep in tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome artist! It sounds like you had an enjoyable lunch with your boss too. I hope you enjoy the holidays and time with your family. I am not superstitious about Friday the 13th either. It seems to be a pretty lucky number in my family. I was born on the 13th (not Friday the 13th, but our birthdays eventually land on a Friday the 13th). And then we have the months of January, March, June, July, August, and September where I have family born on the 13th. Anyway, enjoy your Friday the 13th. Hope you are able to get rid of those fire ants this weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteFriday 13 is typically a good day for me. I don't give any day to the devil! I gave up trying to kill fire ants with store-bought stuff. We are naughty and pour a little gasoline on the hills and set them ablaze.
ReplyDeleteGood luck selling those pecans! Hopefully people are planning on making pies and pralines and will snap them up!
You might remember that in Spain it's Tuesday the 13th. I'd say it was a pretty lucky day as we got a bit of rain. Hope you sell all the pecans. I'd sure buy some.
ReplyDeleteWell, you're a busy bee! I hope the time off is fun.
ReplyDeleteWe have trouble with fireants. I use Ortho Fire Ant killer (white powder, smells REALLY yucky!). It works every time without fail because it kills the Queen. Do keep children and pets away from the application, though. It is highly poisonous for several hours.
Nope, not superstitious at all. It's just another day that the Lord has made. It was a lovely, brisk day here, so, we rode the two wheels to Brunswick (50 miles west) and back for hubby's annual Telephone Pioneers Luncheon. It's always fun to see the old friends in one place. Yummy food too.
#2 sounds like so much fun!!! I just know it will be.
ReplyDeleteGoing out to lunch with the boss....wow.
I have a pecan tree by the garage here, and I swear, I can lend you some of our neighborhood squirrels...they'll get rid of 'em for you. ;o)
And fire ants!!! Ewwwwwwwwww, how I hate 'em.
I'm not superstitious, as you know. (BTW Thank you for the nice comments you always leave on my page.)
ReplyDeleteHow nice that your boss took you to lunch. Sounds like she wanted a more personal time with you. I think that's good.
The fire ants is just one of the reasons I won't live in the south. :)
I saw pictures of that artist's work and it's amazing. I wish I could see it up close and personal.
