Thoughtful Thursday....

I'm stealing an idea from another blog (again!), but I found it interesting and wanted to expand on it some!

If you could go back in time, where would you go?  That's my Thoughtful Thursday question!

My answer on the other blog (and here) was to the early 1950s.  I was born in 1951, and have memories of my mom in the kitchen; of milk being delivered to the door; of the bread man coming to the door with his yummy treats; even our doctor made house calls.  Families had one car back then, and it went to work with Dad, so services came to the door for moms and kids, who were 'stuck' at home, without transportation.  Going shopping was a big deal!  We got dressed up to go shopping!  Seriously!  TV had three stations, all in black and white.  Mom had the radio on all the time and those songs still make me warm and fuzzy!!  It would be interesting to visit that time, as an adult and knowing what I know now...

Tonight is my facial night (every four weeks).  I so look forward to it!!  More relaxing than a massage for me.

Wishing you all a good Thursday!  It is Friday Eve!!  Enjoy.  Peace, love & hugs.

  1. I would go back to the the early 1970's for the same reason you would go back to the 50's. My childhood was so awesome and I would love to relive it for one day. Playing outside with my friends, coming in for a delicious lunch made by my mom and giving my dad a big kiss and hug when he walked in from work. Thinking about all of this brought happy tears.

  2. We lived in the country and mahy times walked to a little grocery store in a small village. I remember that where my cousins lived they had a huckster who would come around every few weeks and sell lots of things. On the way to the airport on Sunday I saw a 57 Chevy the colour of your car up there. Now those were cars!

    1. Those '57 Chevys are 'the best'! Turquoise was the color to have! I remember a penny candy store, where we could spend 10 cents and have a bag full of candy! We always chose the kind that you got 2 pieces for a penny!!

  3. Love your thoughts of the past. I guess mine would be 1957-1959. I moved from Nashville to Chattanooga and attended one of the two huge high schools. My years there were fun, happy, and carefree. My childhood was a happy one as well, but I love living in Chattanooga. Big enough, but too much so.

    1. As I mentioned in my reply to Kris, we are so blessed to have had such good childhoods. And we had those good times without electronics!! :-)

  4. I would like to go back to that time period too. I was born in 1946 and I have lots of memories of then. It was a more relaxed period. Life seemed simpler. I know it was hard at time for my parents to provide but my mother was the strongest lady I ever knew. We try to tell our grandchildren what it was like for us growing up then and they give us "that look". :)

    1. LOL - yes, I know "that look" too. It is really hard for today's kids to understand a time without computers and all that goes with this digital world we live in now. I miss my mom, and lost her much too soon to cancer. She was only 65.

  5. Enjoy your facial tonight Terri. I should schedule one myself. It's been awhile, and now that things are slowing down a bit, I think it's time again to sit back and relax :)

  7. If I could go back in time, I'd go back to a day that I had both my Grandmas here before my Grandma Rose had cancer and spend the day with them. (Tammy)
