Tuesday 4
Back to School
Welcome back to Toni Taddeo's Tuesday 4 dear friends. I am so glad you are continuing to play along!
It can be hard to come up with topics from week to week so your input would be great.
Let's go back to school today...
1. You are back in high school... what are you doing after school lately? Baby-sitting my brother and sisters and sometimes getting dinner started. My mom worked at the post office and my dad got home about the same time she did. I got an allowance of $4.00 a week for helping. On Fridays during football season, though, we had a quick band practice right after school and before the game. Our neighbor, Mrs. Kirts, was the stand-by babysitter. She was such a sweet woman. Her husband was a minister but had been gone for many years. She was an artist and the walls in her house were covered in paintings.
2. Do you do homework early or late? I usually had a study hall later in the day and got most of my homework done then but I did do homework first. Do you really study? Yes, I studied and usually had more A's than B's. I did get a C in geometry and in chemistry. Hated them.
3. a, Do you go to the games? Yes. Football? Yes... I was in the marching band, so went to all the games. Basketball.. what is your favorite to attend? I was not a basketball fan in high school and don't remember ever going to a game. I did like football and loved being in the band. Believe it or not, we didn't even know what soccer was back then. Gasp!
b. Do you go to the dances? Yes. Prom? Yes. (what'd you wear?) Back in the dark ages, when I was in school, we had dress codes. Girls usually wore a suit (skirt, blouse, and jacket) for homecoming games. We wore formals for prom.
4. Lunch! What are we having today? I ate in the school cafeteria and we had good food back then. What is your favorite lunch? I loved pizza days and chili days, especially. I seem to remember we paid $3.25 for the week. I did live just one block from school and we were allowed (with written permission) to go home for lunch but I rarely did. Mom was working and I didn't want to make my own lunch! Our neighbor (behind our house) was one of the school cooks and she was a good cook!! They actually had recipes and cooked real food for us in our little town.
Have a good February!!
