It speaks volumes about my weekend to say the highlight was when Casper peed!! Casper was sick all day Saturday. He threw up three times, wouldn't eat and slept the day away. He pooped, or I would have been a little more concerned, but he hadn't had any water either (that I was aware of). Sorry if this is TMI for those who don't have pets, but I woke up around 3:00 a.m. and heard him peeing in the bathroom litter box. I got out of bed and got closer to make sure it was Casper. He is back to his normal self now (all day Sunday) so whatever was making him sick, got through him. Whew. Weekend urgent care vet visits are expensive. Crisis averted.
Friday evening, I intended to go downtown for First Friday. The city closes streets, shops and restaurants stay open late, and food trucks come in. My friend, Wendy, has a granddaughter who does hula-hoops. I've seen videos on FB but she was doing her thing downtown. I talked myself out of going. I did some grocery shopping and then just didn't want to go back out. Going downtown on any evening is crazy but finding a parking spot on First Fridays is pretty awful. Sigh. Such a party pooper. Wendy did post videos of her granddaughter's performance. She is really good. Here is a link from Wendy's FB page. I hope it will open.
Here is another link. She is at a different place but does a lot more with the hoops! Gosh, I had a hula-hoop back in the day but sure never got that good!!
That said, I did cleaning on Saturday and washed my bedding. Dee walked over with Princess to chat. We have to chat outside because she is allergic to cats. She and Bill are still recovering from covid (tired) and now feel like they have colds. Dee showed me what she thought was another allergic reaction to something. It looked like hives. She has so many allergies and has had such a hard time. I got a text from her yesterday morning that she thinks she has shingles. I suggested she get to Urgent Care for meds or it will just get worse. She didn't even know you could take meds for shingles. She went, was diagnosed, and got a prescription called in. What a time they have had!!
Sunday school and church yesterday. I was a greeter (once a month) and got lots of hugs in exchange for a bulletin! Nice! The Fall Festival was Saturday. I did not go. It was well attended and there were 80-90 kids. It was a good outreach and there were 25-30 non-member families from the neighborhood. All that said, there was a lot of food leftover so the Deacons warmed everything up and put the food out after the service. I filled a plate and brought it home... a hot dog, some baked beans, and cornbread. There was also pulled pork and hamburgers, potato salad and coleslaw.
I spoke with my son, Joey, on Saturday. It is always good to connect with him. He is deployed right now and I worry about his placement. He assured me he is fine where he is. I spoke with my sister, Patti, on Sunday, so I got caught up with loved ones and my heart is full.
I think the coming week will be pretty easy. Work will be chill and I have lunch with Al and Theresa on Friday. I'm driving down to Punta Gorda on Saturday to have lunch with granddaughter Lauren and (hopefully) her new boyfriend!!
That's good to hear Casper is OK. We've done the weekend Vet before, it is costly. My husband is allergic to cats. We'd have to stay outside too.
ReplyDeleteI had a hula hoop in the 60s. They were such a big thing back then.
I hope the week is easy and happy for you.
Blessings. xx
I'm glad Casper is better!
ReplyDeleteThe first link didn't work but the second did. I had a hula hoop too, but couldn't do anything like that!
Glad you got to talk to Joey, and it's nice to look forward to seeing Lauren!
Our furry friends can be such a worry...glad to hear things are improved.. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteTerri: I am so sorry your fur baby was ill, Blondie the Cat sends hugs, Blondie has done the same ate something she should not have, vet bills are so much money, oh my gosh that hula hoop video is amazing, she has some real talent.

So glad your cat is okay. It's so hard when our pets are sick and can't tell us what's wrong. Your Sunday sounds wonderful! Hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHaving a sick pet is akin to having a sick child, Terri. So glad to hear that Casper pulled through!
ReplyDeleteHappy to hear, too, that you had some good conversations with family - always comforting! Hope this week is a blessed one for you, too. :)
So good to hear Casper is back to his normal self. It's hard to have a sick pet because they can't tell us what hurts, so then we have to a watchful eye. It was also good to hear your friend went to the doctor, shingles can be very bad. She certainly did the right thing. Prayers for Joey, things are getting so bad in the middle east. Now China and Russia are talking of scary things, God help us.
ReplyDeleteI am glad Casper was okay. I do the same thing - I get in and then change my mind to go back out. Did your friend have shingles? She has a lot going on.

ReplyDeleteAh, time for Grandma to meet the new boyfriend! I hope that goes well.
Sorry your friend Dee is having such a tough time. When our bodies are at a low ebb, it can be a real fight to get back to full health. I hope her shingles turn out to be a light case.
And glad Casper is feeling better.
PS I was able to view the second link to the hoola hoop demo. Wow. Such flexibility!
ReplyDeleteYes, I can definitely relate to being an anxious pet parent. I remember having to get a hula hoop while it was all the rage -- and feeling like a complete klutz when I couldn't master the 'art' for more than a few seconds. I'll bet Wendy's so proud of her granddaughter! And speaking of ... I get to meet my own g-girl's significant other at Thanksgiving. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that Casper is ok! I always hate when a pet is sick because they can't tell you!! I'm sorry your friend has shingles but I am very glad she got meds.
