Since I don't have any new photos to share, I will honor my dad with some photos since this is the day of his birth. November 3, 1926. Dad would have been 97 today, had he lived. We lost him much too soon, to cancer when he was just 63. I miss him!!
Dad was lots of fun. He loved to laugh and to make others laugh. He loved fishing, hunting, and taking people on boat rides. He was a Mason. He was a pilot (single engine) in his younger years. He didn't finish high school because he joined the Army during his senior year. The war ended before he finished boot camp. He worked as a civilian for the Air Force and retired as a GS-11. He and mom became snowbirds and they were one of the reasons Joe and I moved to Florida. (Mom worked for and retired from the Post Office.)
Dad grew up on a farm and was the youngest of three, with an older brother and sister.
Dad loved his family and had a big heart for all of us. He was proud of our accomplishments and always let us know it.
Pictures in no order...
Dad, on the left, and three of his cousins.

A beautiful honor given. My father was a mason and a pilot too though my mother made him give up his plane in order to marry her as he was such a daredevil. Flew stunt planes and gliders as well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed these pictures of your Dad. He was so young when he passed and I know you miss him still.
ReplyDeleteI think he and my Dad were a lot alike, similar in age, grew up on a farm and were hard workers and just nice people. We were blessed!
I LOVE these photos, Terri. First of all, you look just like your dad! Second of all, I can see that you had a happy home life and a wonderful relationship with your Dad. I am sorry he died so young. I didn't know he was a pilot! Oh, and you know I grew up on "Big Lake Harris" in Lake County (Tavares). Little Lake Harris is just around the bend by Howey in the Hills. Very familiar territory for me! Happy Heavenly Birthday to your Dad. Thank you for sharing these wonderful photos with us today. Oh, btw, my Dad was a farmer in PA., but when we moved to Florida he worked for the post office and retired from there!
ReplyDeleteSometimes our connections here in blogland almost feel like the twilight zone. We all seem to have similarities in so many areas of our lives. Has to be a God thing!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful post about your father. I even see some of you in him. Wonderful man.
ReplyDeleteThat's a sweet tribute. The photos are wonderful. Happy Heavenly Birthday sir.
ReplyDeleteBlessings. xx
Such a wonderful birthday tribute to your dear daddy! I love looking at old family photographs -- everything from clothing styles and automobiles I'd quite forgotten to everyone's air of innocence. Thank you for sharing these good times.
ReplyDeleteLovely tribute to your Dad Terri.
