The weekend has come and gone much too fast!
I went to work on Friday and got a couple of things done. The rest of the staff had the day off but my boss came by to bring me my roaster that they borrowed for the turkey. When I got home, I brought in the Christmas decorations and started putting the fall things away and putting out some of the Christmas stuff. I will do it over a few days. I need to get some new Advent Candles and some cheap/fake poinsettias to put outside.
Saturday dawned early because I was heading north, stopping to pick up my friend, Kalisa, who retired from the museum, too. She is an accomplished horsewoman and won lots of awards in her younger years. I couldn't wait for her to see the World Equestrian Center, up in Ocala. You may remember that Barb (Sweet Tea & Sandles) took me there a few months ago when I went up there to visit. It is an amazing place and it is all decorated for Christmas now. Just beautiful!! Kalisa was blown away by the enormity of the place and the money required to participate. Being 'horsey' takes a bunch of money these days.
I am happy that I got to talk with my son Joey over the weekend and I also spoke with my niece, Sara, and her hubby Matthew. They had joyful, happy news to share!! A new baby is due in May!! Praise God! I am so happy for them and for my sis-in-law, Jo Anne, who will be a first-time grandma!!
I will do a little shopping after work today and then will keep working on the Christmas decor. Tomorrow my church small group is meeting for dinner at Livia's house. I am glad we are back to socializing!! I will see Helen on Wednesday this week.
The equestrian center looks like a fabulous place to visit. But thanks to you, now I would really like to be rich, because I want that lion! It purrs? wow. Big fancy houses, nice cars, blah...I mean, they're nice, but that LION, wow! :). I am glad we are back to socializing too, and thank you for sharing your busy weekend. It did go by too fast.
ReplyDeleteYou know...it just doesn't seem like Christmas down there when its like warm, LOLOLOL. ON a somber note, the general feeling about the socializing etc. here in western/Southern Tier of NY is we will be shut down again by Christmas for the nonexistent new variant. Our governor has already shut down elective surgeries and ER visits.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun pictures from the equestrian center! Cool lion! Will you share the recipe for Williamsburg Turkey Soup? Looks yummy! Congratulations to you and your family on the new of an upcoming new baby. Your tree looks super, Terri. Love the Christmasy look to your blog.
ReplyDeleteRobin, I get it off the internet each year. Just Google Williamsburg Turkey Soup. Here is one: https://www.food.com/recipe/williamsburg-turkey-soup-118002
DeleteI tweak it a bit because I don't use the carcass.
Sure sounds like a fun weekend! I need to drive over there too! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful country there... especially if one has the "big bucks!"
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous Saturday you ladies enjoyed! I'd love to visit that Center someday. And that image of Kalisa and her gorgeous horse doing dressage? Wow. She was living my young girl's dream!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Sara and Matthew -- and Jo Anne, too!
What a wonderful weekend and pictures. I love the Lion too. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool place. Didn't know that Ocala had a World Equestrian Center. That makes sense, though, 'cause of all those expensive horse farms around there. It does take deep pockets for that kind of "hobby". I'm glad y'all had such a good time.
ReplyDeleteLove & Blessings. xx
I am going to have to go visit that WEC sometime. It looks pretty fabulous! Yes, Ocala is famous for its horse farms and all things equestrian. But yes, it does take lots of $$ to participate! So glad you and your friend were able to go, and also that you got to visit with your friend in Micanopy! Looks like a wonderful day. Your soup looks so good, and I am sure it was. I am just burned out on turkey about now. Having beef stew for supper! I love your tree! I think it is just perfect! I am enjoying doing some decorating and turning on the lights on the little trees and other scenes about the house. It helps brighten up the long dark nights! Getting into the Christmas spirit...now if someone would just go do the shopping for me, I'd be all set!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Have a great week.
Busy weekends leave me moving slow on Monday. I love your tabletop tree and ONE day I will join you with one!
ReplyDeleteYou captured the World Equestrian Center very well with your camera! I didn't seen the gingerbread set up when I was there on November 23rd. Those polar bears by the tree in the hotel lobby are intimidating!
