Writing this on Friday to post on Saturday and we are so happy that Hurricane Matthew blew east and stayed off shore for those of us in Florida. Lakeland has only had scattered rain showers and 40 mph gusts of wind now and then. So blessed. There was lots of damage and loss of power on the shoreline from the outer bands. Looking north now and praying for those still in his path. We are also hoping it doesn't loop around and come back toward Florida.
My Life Would Suck Without You
Welcome to Saturday 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!
Saturday 9: My Life Would Suck Without You (2009)
Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.
1) This video begins with Ms. Clarkson on a swing. When you were young, did you prefer the swings or the slide? I liked both, but sure had fun on my backyard slide!
2) The first words are, "Guess this means you're sorry." Who is the last person to apologize to you? I really don't remember. Probably someone at work apologized for interrupting my lunch (which I eat at my desk).
3) One of Kelly's earliest show business jobs was as an extra on Sabrina, The Teenage Witch. Do you believe in witches and warlocks? Not the Halloween kind, but I know there are people today who practice witchcraft as a religion.
4) Mentioning witches and seeing Kelly with a lollipop reminds Sam ... She needs to pick up a 1 lb. bag of Dum Dums for Trick or Treaters. Have you done anything in preparation for Halloween? No. We quit answering the door years ago and continue to not decorate or leave the outside lights on. We are in an isolated neighborhood and it got so the only "kids" who came to the door were really too old to be begging. All the churches around here do Trunk or Treat activities which are much safer for families these days.
5) Ms. Clarkson's advice to aspiring young singers is not to listen to advice. "Everyone gives you their 2¢ worth, but you have to follow your gut." Are you good at soliciting and following advice? Or do you tend to follow your gut? I usually follow my gut, but do know when to ask for advice and I am fairly good at making educated decisions while comparing whatever data I gather.
6) The year this song was popular, 2009, saw two major newspapers go out of business. Both the Seattle Post Intelligencer and Rocky Mountain News published their last editions. Do you still read a paper copy of your local newspaper? Yes, seven days a week, even though it is a liberal rag. I make sure to read the comics, the local news and the obits while ignoring the front page.
7) In 2009, Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that Facebook tried to buy Twitter, but was rebuffed. Which social media site do you spend the most time on? Facebook and Blogger. I'm not on Twitter and tend to forget about Instagram.
8) In 2009, the Balmain Collection included a pair of jeans that retailed for $2,165. What's the most you would pay for denim pants? $36 but probably not that much. My favorite pair cost me $3.00 at a discount store. I'm all about the bargain and what is on sale. I doubt that my entire closet full of clothes is worth $2,165!!
9) Random question: You buy a charity raffle ticket and tuck it into a friend's birthday card. Before you can give the card to her, the numbers are drawn and you realize the ticket is worth $500. Do you keep the ticket or give it to your friend, as planned? That is not something I would do, but if I did I am sure I would not have written down the numbers before sealing the envelope, so my friend would have gotten the prize.
Thanks so much for joining us again at Saturday: 9. As always, feel free to come back, see who has participated and comment on their posts. In fact sometimes, if you want to read & comment on everyone's responses, you might want to check back again tomorrow. But it is not a rule. We haven’t any rules here. Join us on next Saturday for another version of Saturday: 9, "Just A Silly Meme on a Saturday!" Enjoy your weekend!
Thanks for your visit on this Saturday after Matthew! Have a good weekend! Peace & hugs.

Just so thankful that you are safe and had no damage from the hurricane. Good questions this morning, and even better answers. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are safe.
ReplyDeleteMy son is too old to Trick or Treat but he enjoys getting dressed up and helping at the church's Trunk or Treat. We didn't have any Trick or Treaters last year but we will still buy candy just in case.
Have a great weekend!
I am glad to hear your well...I was reading the Ocala paper and south Ocala (where they live) has a lot of trees down, which probably contributes not getting hold of my parents.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your answers, Terri, hope you have a beautiful day friend.
Our church and many others do trunk or treat and that is a lot of fun. We get mostly smaller kids at our house and I don't mind giving them candy. The older kids are polite enough, but really shouldn't be out. Your answer about the paper is why I don't take the paper. I'm glad you all are safe. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteLucky duck, having your own slide! :)
ReplyDeleteI, too, eat my 30-minute lunch at my desk ... but I don't recall anyone ever apologizing for interrupting.
Glad to hear Matthew was a no-show! Still waiting to hear from Tom's sis and BIL who had to evacuate their home on Amelia Island.
Glad y'all are safe and sound. Our paper is The Blackshear Times and it is a liberal rag. Really hate giving them the money but it's nice to keep up with local news. They need competition so the owner can retire from writing. ~:)
ReplyDeleteWe had a slide like that one! My dad used to get so mad if he saw us trying to run up it. Glad to see you're OK after the storm.
ReplyDeleteWe live out in the country, so trick or treat is obsolete. It scares me a little sometimes. My folks had people casing their home one year, and it was robbed a few days later. Before my 1st husband and I remarried, my home was in a slowly declining neighborhood. About 4 years ago some 20 something masked guys came to the door. Ever since that time, lights off, doors locked and dogs at the ready! I love your answers. xo
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of you on your slide. I have one of my mom that looks remarkably similar.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be the first time in years I'll be home for Trick or Treat. I'm undecided about what to do. I'm not afraid, but I don't know any of the kids these days. The last time I was around to answer the door I think half of them came from elsewhere and as you mentioned, there were a lot of high school kids and even adults. Ridiculous!
