The Saturday 9...

Thanks to Crazy Sam for today's questions.  You can join in HERE!

Hold Me Now

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9
questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so to speak. We encourage you to visit other participants' posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love to
answer the questions, however, and here are today's questions!

Saturday 9: Hold Me Now (1983)

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This week's song begins with a young man gazing at a picture of himself and his girlfriend in happier times. Are there any photographs in the room you're in right now?  There is a picture of Joe in a gondola, in Venice.

2) His girl tells him he's a dreamer. Do you consider yourself more of a dreamer or realist?  I am a realist.

3) "Hold Me Now" was a big hit for the British pop band, The Thompson Twins. They got their start in the late 1970s in the English city of Sheffield, so named because the River Sheaf runs through it. Do you know how your town got its name?

Lakeland:  the lakes are a valuable natural resource in the Lakeland community. There are a total of 38 named lakes within City limits as well as numerous smaller lakes. Sizes among the 38 named lakes range from 2.5 acres (Lake Blanton) to 2,272 acres (Lake Parker) of which 17 are natural and 21 are man-made.

4) Today lead singer Tom Bailey performs solo and is an outspoken advocate for veganism. Vegans abstain from consuming animal products, particularly in their diets. Are you a vegan, or have you ever tried to stick to a vegan diet? I could not be a vegan.  Vegetarian perhaps, but I like meat and protein and butter and cheese and eggs...

5) Tom's former bandmate Joe Leeway has left show business altogether and concentrates on a career in hypnotherapy. This therapy is commonly used to treat insomnia, smoking cessation, and obesity. Is hypnotherapy something you have tried or would consider?  I've never done it and have never considered it.  Not sure it would work and I am a control freak - how would I know what they were suggesting I do or not do?  Nope.

6)  In 1983, when this song was popular, Motorola introduced the first cell phone. Today cell phones are an essential part of our everyday lives. Do you still have a landline?  No. We got rid of the landline years ago.

7) Also in 1983, American West Airlines took off, flying between Las Vegas and Phoenix. Where did you travel to on your most recent flight?  It was probably a nephew's wedding but it was years ago, long before covid.  I much prefer to drive when it is at all possible.

8) In 1983, Princess Diana was the world's top cover girl. Are there any magazines in the room you're in?  Yes. If yes, who or what is on the cover?  The latest AARP Magazine has Robert DeNiro on the cover.

9) Random question: Is anyone on your bad side this morning?  Nope.  I'm writing this on Thursday to post on Saturday.  On Saturday morning I will be basking in the joy of family in the house preparing for a spring training Phillies baseball game in Clearwater.   No bad sides in the house this weekend!  Me and my pen pal... gr-great niece, Maya.

Peace and Hugs!

Jesus loves us, this I know!!
