I almost missed another Hodgepodge!!

Simply the Hodgepodge

I missed the Hodgepodge last week, so will try to catch up and stay on track this week!  Thank you, Joyce, for posting this great meme while trying to get ready to move!!  You are AWESOME!!

1. Did you make someone laugh yesterday? Was it intentional?

Actually, I was in a meeting yesterday and we had lots of laughter.  I think I contributed to the fun, but it was really a group effort and was a great way to get rid of some stress.  I believe it was intentional.

2. What's a simple question with a complicated answer?

How are you today?  (Most everyone says "fine" when we know they aren't really fine.)

3. Rhododendrons or azaleas...you have to choose. Are any currently blooming in your yard?

I don't know if there are rhododendrons in Florida, but we have azaleas everywhere.  We had one azalea bush that has been torn out, so there is nothing blooming in our yard at the moment.

4.  May 21st is National Waitstaff Day. Have you ever worked as a waiter/waitress? How would you rate the experience? What was the best/worst part of the job?

When I was in high school, my BFF Elaine and I worked summers at Weldon's Ice Cream Factory.  It was fun and not too stressful.  Dipping ice cream is a lot different from carrying heavy trays full of plated food.  It was a good experience.  The best part of the job was the tips (which went right into the jukebox).  The worst part was cleaning.

5.  What fashion trend for women should be outlawed? How about one for men?

I think even thin, nicely shaped women, look RIDICULOUS wearing leggings with short tops that don't cover their backsides.  Well, you don't usually see men with their pants hanging below their underwear - it's usually teenage boys - but that trend really needs to go.  I am also sorry that wearing hats inside has become the standard.  Hats should come off inside restaurants, theaters, homes, and  certainly when our flag is carried by in a parade or honor guard.  Take off the blasted hat!!

6. Name a writer who inspires you...now tell us why.

Inspires?  I am inspired to buy the next novel of quite a few authors, but I don't think that is what this question is really about.  I can't really say "the Bible" because there are many authors, though the Gospel of Matthew is my favorite.  I'm going to pass, since nothing is coming to mind right now.

7.  What well known quote or saying sums up your plans for today or this week?

"Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

We missed church two weekends in a row.  I need to get there this weekend!

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Coming back to work after vacation was much easier this time, since we have a volunteer who has been coming in twice a week to help me!  She came three days last week, and kept my in-box nearly empty, made deposits, and wrote checks.  I opened my office door to calm and orderly, rather than to disorganized chaos!!  I could jump right into a couple of big projects, which is great.  I am so blessed to have help!!

Thanks again, Joyce, for this week's Hodgepodge!!  Thank you all for stopping by!  Peace & hugs.
