Monday's Weekend Recap...

My weekend was not what it was going to be because my long weekend trip to visit with cousins in Alabama had to be canceled due to a couple of the Ohio cousins who couldn't make the trip last minute (well, not minute...).  I had a long phone conversation with cousin Gail, whose home we were invading.  It was good to catch up with her and her family by phone, if not in person.  Fingers crossed that we can try again in the Fall.

On Friday after work, I stopped in to see Helen.  She was animated and we actually had an actual conversation that she seemed to understand and participate in.  We talked about beans.  She likes beans and always wants two scoops.  She likes green beans, black beans, baked beans, and just all kinds of beans.  I was prepared to talk about beans for the entire visit but it was short-lived.  One of the aides told me that Helen ate a big breakfast and they brought her two plates for her lunch (the biggest meal of the day).  I didn't ask what lunch was but I was suspicious of the spills on Helen's slacks, which looked a lot like baked beans (thus, the conversation).  She let me wheel her into the TV room after the conversation slowed.  When I told her I had to go home, she actually told me to "run along now".  I kissed the top of her head and told her I loved her.  She responded "love you too" and was content with me walking away.  One of my sweeter visits.  She almost smiled for the picture!

Saturday was quiet.  I did some mending and am happy to have my sewing machine out where I can use it as needed.  Joe's desk is now my sewing and crafting desk.  I finally got around to watching the Downton Abby movie, which was great.  Makes me want to go back and start streaming the entire series again. So well done!  In between, I am watching Everybody Loves Raymond from season one.  I never watched it when it was on network TV so am having fun and laughing out loud at the silliness.   I am also still watching Chateau DIY.  If I was 40 years younger and had lots of money, I think I would love to tackle bringing back an ancient chateau to its historical beauty.

Sunday was church.  Our Pastor is beginning a sermon series on Mark and it will take us to Easter and the Resurrection. I love my church and church family.  I am having lunch with one of my friends, Wilma, today, and an early dinner on Wednesday with Livia and Wilma. Looking forward to both.  I also volunteered to host my small group on Tuesday the 9th so have to start planning dinner for that.

Thanks for stopping by!  Wishing you all a lovely August!!

Peace & hugs!

So teach us to number our days,
That we may present to You a heart of wisdom.
