We have had a glorious weekend!! What fun to get to meet up with a blogging
friend and her hubby again!! Barb (Sweet Tea & Sandals) and Tom live
just two hours away from Lakeland now and they decided to take a
day-trip down to Lakeland on Friday!! We are always pleased and proud to
show off our beautiful Lakeland!!
They came to our house first and we chatted for a while before piling into our
car and heading for some of our prettiest and most interesting places.
After a ride around Lake Hollingsworth and our most exclusive neighborhoods,
we went to the campus of Florida Southern College. FSC has the largest
collection of Frank Lloyd Wright designed buildings in the world.
This is Barb & Tom in front of the Annie Pfeiffer Chapel.
We followed some workers into the Chapel and were happy that we
had some time to sit down and take it all in.
FLW's designs are known for the low ceilings. Barb was
able to touch the ceiling of this covered walk-way.
I had my walker along to make getting around less painful for me.
We actually got to see the fountain working but by the time we got there, it
was off. It only runs a few times a day. Still pretty!
From the internet...
From there we went to Polk Museum of Art, where I worked for
20+ years. I am always proud to show off our lovely art museum.
We had lunch at the Garden Bistro. I did not take a picture there but
Barb did and posted it HERE on her blog a few days ago.
Lakeland's Hollis Gardens are adjacent to the restaurant, so
we went there next.
We took a car tour of a few more spots before heading back to our
house for some dessert. We hated to say good-bye. It was a very fun day.
Thanks for coming down, Barb & Tom!! Please come again!!
On Saturday morning I had to work. As soon as I got home, Joe and I
headed for Orlando's Disney Springs (used to be Downtown Disney) where
we were meeting up with my sister for a late lunch at The House of Blues.
The House of Blues has folk art on all the walls and blues music playing most of the time.
I fell in love with this American Flag.
We spent a couple of hours talking, catching up on what they had been
doing all week at the Hyatt Grand Cypress Resort. They have had a great time!
Our lunch was delicious.
They are leaving for Ohio on Monday morning! I'm so glad we had a
few days with them in Lakeland and those few hours on Saturday!
Joe and I went to church on Sunday morning. I put some chicken in
the crockpot before we left because our friend Gregory and his pup Paisley
were coming for lunch!! I made mashed potatoes and boiled some
corn on the cob for our meal. Cake and ice cream was dessert.
It was good to catch up with him. He is doing some wildlife
photography at a local zoo. If you haven't met Gregory
through his website, you can visit HERE.
July has arrived. I have a nice seven-day weekend coming up because to doctor I work for is taking July 3-8 off. I don't get paid, but it is nice to have a nice long break
before my final day, which is July 18th!
before my final day, which is July 18th!
Thanks for your visit today!!
Peace & hugs!! God bless!!
