Happy New Year Weekend Recap....

My weekend recap is usually on Monday, but we all know Monday was New Year's Day so I am a day late!  Happy new year to each of you!!

I posted photos and told you about our trip last Wednesday to Interlachen, FL, to see my Kentucky cousins and that trip also took us to a meeting with blogging friend Pamela Steiner so we will go from there. (What a happy day it was!!)

Thursday we didn't do much of anything, which was nice.  Friday was more of the same, though we did go to Sam's Club and Publix.  I also got laundry done (whew! there was a lot!) and started gathering Christmas decorations from around the house. The pile on the dining room table is growing.

Saturday evening we were invited next door, to Sharon and Bob's, for a gathering of friends.  There were about 30 people, with the women inside and the men outside on the patio with heaters going.  Did I mention that it has turned COLD here in central Florida?

The party was fun and I got acquainted with our neighbor on our other side, Jill.  She and her hubby just arrived Friday morning from Canada and will only be here until the first of April.  We hit it off right from the start. I tell you, we are so blessed to have chosen this home with such amazing neighbors all around us!!  Jill and I have already connected on Facebook.

Sunday night, the Mas Verde Homeowners Association hosted a New Year's Eve party at our Clubhouse for anyone who wanted to attend.  There was a cost ($8.00 each), to help cover hiring a DJ and some decorations, so instead of the usual 150 or so people, there were only about 80 but we planned to meet and sit with Al and Theresa (Al and I worked together at the Museum for many years and they just bought a house here).  We ended up sitting with two couples we hadn't met yet, so were happy to connect with four more really nice folks. We brought food to share and so did they, so there were plenty of nibbles at our table all night long.

Al and Theresa

There was a photo station that was lots of fun and it was free!  Theresa and I went over first and we finally talked our guys into doing it tool

Theresa and Al (who dressed like a clown).

There was lots of dancing which was fun to watch.  I love to dance but my knees don't agree with me. I did get to dance a slow one with Joe before the evening was over.  There were several line dances that Theresa enjoyed and also a conga line toward the end of the evening. First, I posted a video link that I hope works for you of one of the line dances with a look around the room....

Some people left around 10:30 but we stayed until the ball dropped at midnight!  The DJ had a TV and tuned into Times Square in time for the countdown.

With toasts to the new year, some kisses and hugs, we said goodbye to 2017, welcomed 2018 and headed home (about three minutes from the clubhouse!) shortly after midnight.

Yesterday we didn't get to sleep in too late because we invited Helen and her niece Cheryl to join us for the traditional New Year's Day meal of pork (prosperity), kraut (brings money), and blackeyed peas (wealth). We also had roasted potatoes, homemade bread, broccoli, and carrot cake for dessert.

We ate at the kitchen table because the dining room table is full of decorations.

The weather here has turned downright nasty (by our standards). It is in the low 40s and there is drizzling rain.  No snow, but these old bones are not used to having to wear fuzzy slippers and a sweater in the house!!  We watched the Rose Parade and lots of college football games yesterday. It was lovely!!  The tree comes down today, but last night it was still glowing from the corner....

This has gotten much too long, but I'm going to go ahead and post pictures I pulled from various relatives on Facebook.  Our niece, Carly, married Sean on New Year's Eve, up in Philadelphia.  She made a beautiful bride and we are so happy for them.  Sorry we couldn't go, but we don't travel north in the winter anymore.  Here are some photos from the wedding:

There were a lot more photos on Facebook and it sure looked like they had a great time!  What fun to get married on New Year's Eve!!

Happy new year wishes (again).  Thanks for getting this far!!  Peace & hugs.
