Wednesday's Hodgepodge...

Huge thanks to Joyce for today's questions!!  You can be a Hodgepodger HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 465

From this Side of the Pond

1. "A daughter's a daughter all her life, but a son's a son til he takes a wife." What say you? Elaborate.  I think there was some truth in that, at least perhaps years ago, but maybe not so much today.  It depends on the people involved, but (personally) I had some pretty great in-laws who I loved like they were blood.  My daughter-in-law/love, Darlene, cares for me and shares our son with us/me quite generously.  Jeff and Kali aren't married but I consider her my DIL and feel the same way about her.  I am blessed and I'm sure other moms of boys are too.

2. Something you've seen recently that was 'cuter than a June bug'I can't share the pictures, but my new great-nephew, Ezra, is in that category for sure!!

3. 'You can't buy happiness, but you can buy ice cream and that's pretty much the same thing.' Agree or disagree?  I agree!!  Last time you had a serving of happiness ice cream?  We had ice cream a couple of times while my sisters were here last week.  It went well with the birthday cake!  Dish-cone-milkshake-sundae...which one do you choose?  I like all of those, thank you very much!! With a cone, there aren't any dishes to do!! (snickering)

4. What is one way/area in which you're currently 'swimming against the tide'?  I think I am just going with the flow and letting that tide carry me along.  Too tired to swim against the current!!  LOL

5. Three things you're looking forward to this summer?  Seeing more family (and Myra!!) in July!  Getting a nice raise in my paycheck come July 1st (thanks to our Governor!)!  Getting son Joey back in the USA!!  Praise God!!

6. Insert your own random thought here.  It sure isn't random but I am just counting my blessings and feeling the love all around me.  It was great having my sisters and brother-in-law here last week.  We had such a great "remember when" session sitting in the living room one night.  We laughed a bunch! Memories light the corners of my mind... I think someone wrote a song about that!  LOL

Peace & hugs!!
Jesus loves us!!

Like you, I feel very blessed to have a DIL like Lois! Looking back, I wish I'd been more tolerant of my own mothers-in-law.
Can't wait to see you next month!

  3. Ice cream is one of my favorite treats, Terri. And aren't shared memories wonderful, especially with family? I think the older I get, the more grateful I am for beloved family members.
    Blessings!

  4. I haven't had ice cream, cake or anything sugary for almost 3 years. Don't miss it a bit. I do have my weekly ice cold sugar-free Hazelnut Frappe'. For me it's as good as having ice cream sans the blood sugar problems. *grin* And now I've learned the formula for making my own! Yum. *giggle*
Enjoyed your post and I'm glad you're getting a raise.
    Blessings. xx

  6. Ice cream, does it equal happiness? Well, if I eat it too many days in a row, I get intestinal problems (Lactaid helps). So in moderation, it is a happy thing for me.

All of my children have been pretty independent since leaving home, marrying, and establishing their now families. They all live miles away (two are in different time zones). I'm glad we raised them to be independent of me because that helps them to cope in today's world.

  7. I have a sweet DIL who loves my son well! They live in KY so we don't get to see them often enough!
June bugs aren't cute! Ezra is certainly cuter! :)
No ice cream for me. I know I'm crazy.

  8. I am blessed with my sweet DIL Rose here and also my DIL Nicole in NH, even tho we really don't see each other much anymore. But she took good care of Matthew when he was so sick and I am very thankful for her. I am so glad you had such a great visit with your family. That truly was a blessing. And now, you are getting a raise? How wonderful. Thank you Gov. DeSantis! And I hear you are going to visit Myra next month? How wonderful is that??? Be sure to get lots of pictures. And ice cream...you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!

  11. I'm glad you had such a great visit with your sisters. I enjoyed seeing the pictures on FB. It's something special when siblings who are spread out all over the place can manage to get together. Tim's family is spread over 4 states and it's rare that they all get together, though the sisters do better than he does. He was the black sheep so, sadly, it's not quite as much of a priority for him. I'm tickled you and Myra will get to meet and can't wait to see the photos! Great news about the raise in these times!

  12. I am so happy you had such a lovely visit with your sisters and brother-in-law. Those things you're looking forward to this summer, are all awesome, especially seeing more of the people you love. Also, your answer to #4 is just so wise.
