The Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Thanks to our Hodgepodge Hostess, Joyce, for today's questions!  You can join in HERE!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 427

1. Tell us about one small blessing you have counted in the past week?  Gosh, every minute of every day is a blessing but I sure enjoyed seeing some of my old friends from the Museum last Thursday.  That we could actually hug was such a blessing!

2. Bastille Day is celebrated on July 14th...have you ever been to France? Any desire to visit there, and if so what would site or city would you most want to see? (pretend for a minute international travel isn't an issue)  I have never been to France and have never really wanted to go to France.  I suppose if money was no object I might enjoy doing a wine tour in the French countryside as part of a trip through Europe.

3. A food associated with France that you love?   French Onion Soup really is a French dish and is one of my favorite soups to order out.  I also love a Nicoise Salad.  I haven't seen one on a menu in a very long time.

4. Something you recently purchased where a coupon was involved? Do you regularly shop with coupons?  I do not clip coupons but do use coupons online whenever there is one available.  The last time was a new pair of sneakers.

5. You have to give something away this week...what will it be?  I have a box full of clothing to donate and need to get it in the car.  I will add Helen's shoes and the rest of her clothes to the pile.  (Cheryl did help me decide on a suit to keep back for her funeral someday.) Tough decisions being made for her. Gosh.

6. Insert your own random thought here.  I am sad to miss our niece's wedding reception on Labor Day weekend, up in Pennsylvania.  I got the invitation on Monday.  Haley and Colin got married the first week of June which was a change from the original plan.  Her mom, Debbie D'Orsaneo, has cancer (Nick's wife, if you remember previous blogs about them.)  Joe's younger brother died in 2020 of cancer and his wife, Debbie, has also been battling cancer.  It is feared that she is not going to make it to September so they had a small, immediate family-only, wedding in June and are still having the big celebration/reception on Labor Day weekend.

Joe and I were planning to go so this is all very, very sad for me.  I can't make it with my new job and the added expense of hotel and airfare (we were planning to drive).  Not to mention that I'm not sure I could do it without Joe at my side (it is also his birthday weekend). SO... here is a wedding photo that Haley shared on FB.  She said it was the three women who mean the most to her... Debbie is sitting with slacks on and Nikki and Carly are Haley's sisters.  So bittersweet.  All of Nick & Deb's kids are married now and doing well.  I know it is a blessing for Debbie that they are all settled and happy.  There are more lovely photos on their wedding website HERE.

Even when life gets hard, our God is so good.

  4. The wedding photos are lovely, Terri - such a beautiful family! I hear you about that weekend being bittersweet for you, and I'm sure Debbie understands fully why you can't be there.
By the way, French onion soup is one of my favorites!

  5. That is a great pic. I love that all the colors go together.
France isn't on my bucket list either. Lots of other places I'd like to see 1st.
    Have a great day!

  6. Yeah, I don't think I'd want to make a long trip alone either. If you do, please stay out of all large metropolis. Things have deteriorated rapidly all across the Country.
So sorry you have to go through this weekend without Joe. Can you feel that? That was a virtual ((HUG)). Praying that you'll feel comforted and at peace.
France is not on any kind of list for me either. I do enjoy reading about Medieval History which involves that time in France. They used to be the center of culture. Today, not so much.
    Enjoyed your answers.
    Love & Blessings. xx

  7. I'm so sorry to learn Debbie's not doing any better. She and your nieces are so beautiful. Totally 'get' your reservations about travelling to the reception; I'm sure they'll feel you holding them in your heart and prayers.
Now, I'm craving a good bowl of French onion soup. Mmmmmm!

  15. Oh I didn't think about french onion soup for the food question, one of my favorites! I'm sorry to hear you'll be missing your niece's wedding, that's so tough!

  16. Wow, I really wish you could go!! I would not hesitate to fly alone, but I understand about the expense. Flights on a holiday weekend would be crazy most likely. Destiny and Alex got an amazingly cheap ticket on Frontier from Orlando to Philly back in January. But probably not the case on Labor Day weekend. Wish I lived closer to Philly. I'd be glad to have you stay at our house.
