The Wednesday Medley...

There are some pretty serious issues on the National Day Calendar this week.
Let's take on a few of them!!  The titles are linked back to The National Calendar.

NATIONAL MAKING LIFE BEAUTIFUL DAY

1.  Tell us about a time you made someone's life beautiful or someone made YOUR life beautiful.  The residents here in Mas Verde are so good at making life beautiful for others by helping out when a neighbor is in need.  We get back as much as we give - true all the time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NATIONAL SMILE POWER DAY

2.  Will you take on the challenge and smile more often on June 15th?  Why not start now!!  Have you been blessed by a smile that changed your day?  I think a nice smile goes a long way in making someone's attitude better (as well as your own!). Smiles are free to give and lovely to receive.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NATIONAL RANDOM ACTS OF LIGHT DAY

3.  Terri is a cancer survivor.  Cancer has touched most of us in one way or another.  When did someone reach out to you with an act of kindness or when did you last perform a random act of kindness for someone?  I have been so blessed to work with caring people at the Museum, who did bring food and restaurant cards when I had my thyroid cancer surgery (and a couple of other surgeries). I try to do the same for others. It means a lot.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NATIONAL LOVING DAY

4.  Terri admits that this turned out to be not what she thought it would be.  Our country has come a long way in recognizing that people are people and our differences are what makes life beautiful, but we still have a long way to go, unfortunately.  Your thoughts?  If only we could all just get along and give peace a chance.  It can work now in families, in communities but will it ever happen across the nation or the world?  Not until we are blessed to see the New Earth, promised in Revelation.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5.  Had to lighten it up a bit.  Terri is a total klutz in the kitchen.  Tell us about something klutzy that happened in your kitchen... by you or another!  Can you laugh about it now?   Just recently, I opened the cupboard door and one of my favorite small bowls fell out, bounced off the counter and hit the floor, shattering into thousands of pieces. A piece hit my ankle, which began bleeding like it was a serious wound (I'm on blood thinners). Fortunately, I was not barefooted, got my cut covered and most of the glass cleaned up. I am still finding pieces now and then. That said, Joe will tell you if it cuts, it will cut me. I am notoriously good at slicing a finger along with whatever is on the cutting board. Oh... if grease splatters, you can bet it will splatter on my favorite blouse because I don't wear an apron. None of this keeps me out of the kitchen because I enjoy cooking, but if you are there with me it will be at your own risk.  You've been warned! LOL

6.  Share something about your week so far, if you would.  Kathy (mother of our grandchildren) sent me a few more photos from Tristan's college graduation.  I am happy to have these few with both Lauren & Tristan in them!! Love those kiddos to the moon and back!

Thanks for your visit!!  If you answered on your blog, please join the other Meddlers and link-up below.

  2. It is amazing how powerful a simple smile is! Loving Day...I agree that we will not see peace until the Lord comes back since the Word tells us so. It sure would be nice to see it happen now, though, wouldn't it? Thanks for the heads up on these "holidays" Terri and the thoughtful questions. Have a blessed day!

  5. I totally believe you about your community. I think I would LOVE living in a place like that. Such lovely people all around. I had no idea you are a cancer survivor, Terri. I'm so glad! My best friend in the world was just released from his doctor yesterday (he had throat cancer) and the joy had me in tears. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

  6. Thanks for the reminder that gift cards are a nice gift for someone recovering from surgery. I have a friend I need to send one to in the days ahead.

  7. Great questions and answers today. I really enjoyed it. Your answer to #4 was absolute truth! I love reading about your neighborhood - that is such a blessing! Congratulations to Tristan. Great pictures. I'm sure he has a bright future ahead of him. I too have experienced so many blessings when we have gone through various trials and am always glad for the opportunity to give back. Your kitchen experiences are definitely Murphy's Law.

  8. Yes … restaurant gift cards is a super idea! I, too, didn't realize your cancer was thyroid. (Back in '71 I had thyroid surgery to remove a tumor - benign, thank God.) My Tom had a similar 'uh-oh' experience in the kitchen 6 weeks ago … I'm still finding itty-bitty pieces of glass. LOVE the expressions on Tristan's face. He done GOOD!

PS - Thanks again for facilitating this exercise. I'm so lame/OCD. Hope you don't mind, but I rearranged these holidays in chronological order. Ha!

  10. Sorry I didn't get a post together in time to join in today. I am the absolute MESSIEST cook in world and after getting tired of messing up perfectly good clothing, I keep my aprons handy...and I'm glad I finally picked up the habit. I have always loved aprons (mostly to look at) and my sweet mother was never without one so they remind of her as I wear them! Have a good week!

  12. So many National days!!! Super fun!!!
Kitchen Klutz - that could be my nickname... especially because we have to have Bruno's kennel in the middle of it- we're constantly tirpping over it.

  13. Congratulations to Tristan. Sweet photos of him and Lauren! I guess we have a box of Band-Aids in the kitchen for a reason. I've also been known to slice my finger a time or two.

  14. Hooray for Tristan - cute pics too! I think you are a blessing to so many people; those you worked with, those who live in your community, friends and of course Joe - and us bloggers too!

  15. Loved your answers. In the kitchen klutz thing...I wear old clothes at home because I always am spilling, splashing, dripping something. I do wear aprons too if I am entertaining and have to wear a nice top. What the world needs now is love, sweet love...that's the only thing that there's just too little of...remember that song? It's still true. Seems like love is getting harder and harder to find, even among families. Well...we love each other, but we dislike each other's political views and sometimes it gets heated. You are blessed to have a lovely neighborhood and friends and family. God bless you and thank you for all you do!

  16. Bringing food and gift cards to those who've had surgery -- such a big help. I've sure appreciated it when others have done that for us!

  17. I know you love the subdivision you are living in now - and I bet you are an angel to a lot of them. Taking cards and caring about others is YOU. I bet you aren't that big of a klutz in the kitchen. And Tristan is handsome - and engineering - smart too.
