Saturday 9...

You can join Crazy Sam Winters and the rest of the Saturday 9ers HERE.  Thanks to Sam for this fun meme each week!!

I Learned from You

Welcome to Saturday: 9. What we've committed to our readers is that we will post 9 questions every Saturday. Sometimes the post will have a theme, and at other times the questions will be totally unrelated. Those weeks we do "random questions," so-to-speak. We encourage you to visit other participants posts and leave a comment. Because we don't have any rules, it is your choice. We hate rules. We love memes, however, and here is today's meme!

Saturday 9: I Learned from You (2007)
... Because it's Father's Day weekend.

Unfamiliar with this week's tune? Hear it here.

1) This song is a duet by the father/daughter team, Miley and Billy Ray Cyrus. Is your family musically inclined?  Not my dad, but Mom, my sister Patti, and I all three played the trumpet in high school. Mom played the organ after she retired, Patti plays piano, my sister Tammy plays guitar, and my mom sang a beautiful alto in the church choir for many years.  So yes... kinda, sorta.

2) This song is about life lessons. Who has been a major influence on your life?  So many, but my parents, of course, and my husband Joe, my high school art teacher and my music teacher...

3) Miley's given name is "Destiny." Her nickname as a baby was "Smiley," which is where Miley came from. What's something that can always be depended upon to make you smile?  Joe makes me smile, any baby laughing makes me smile, and any animal makes me smile.  Good friends and family can also always make me smile.

4) Miley's father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, has 5 children in addition to Miley (6 in all). Are you the oldest, the middle or the youngest sibling? Or are you an only child?  I am the oldest of four.

5) Sam's own father often traveled for business, and always remembered to bring her the little complimentary soaps, shampoos or body lotion he got from the hotel. Tell us about an inexpensive but treasured souvenir from a trip you've taken.  For several years, I collected Cat's Meow pieces from everywhere we traveled.  Some people bought silver spoons... I bought Cat's Meow pieces.  They cost from $15.00 to $20.00 each.  I still have many that hold good memories for me, but did get rid of quite a few when we moved.

6) Back when Sam was in high school, it was her father who gave her driving lessons. Are you patient when teaching someone something new?  My dad taught me to drive, too, and I drive just like him!  (LOL)  I am patient when teaching, I think.

7) Sam's father is easy to buy for: every year he wants a new pair of loafers, so every year for Father's Day she gives him a DSW gift card. Is there anyone on your gift list that you find it easy to buy for?  All we ever give (most of the time) now are gift cards. So easy and no one has to return anything.

8) For family barbecues, Sam's dad dons his "Kiss the Chef" apron and mans the Weber. What's the last thing you cooked on the grill?  Just last night, Joe grilled two t-bone steaks for our dinner. I cut up a big salad to have with them.

9) Sam's father satisfies his afternoon sugar craving with an almost endless stream of Butter Rum Lifesavers. When you crave a snack, do you usually reach for something sweet or salty?  My weakness is salty most of the time.  I even bought pork rinds so I could crunch on something with no carbs while I am dieting before my knee surgery.  Nine pounds down so far!

I am going to post the Wednesday Medley questions and my answers on Wednesday, but the rest of the week I am taking a break.  My sister and BIL are coming on Thursday for a long weekend with us and we need to grocery shop, get the guest room ready, etc., etc.  So don't worry about me for missing some of the days this week.  Thanks!!

Peace & hugs!!  God bless!!

I have two relatives who play the piano well. One plays by ear; the other uses his hands.

Have fun with your family. God bless you all.

  3. I collect Cat's Meow (you can thank my mom, lol). ANYWAYS--I'm not a Cyrus fan--so I'll skip this one, lol. Have a fun visit with your family, smiles.

  4. That's quite a musical family you have, Terri. I bet your Dad enjoyed all that talent. I don't play piano that well, but Jay always comments how nice it is to have music in the house. You are such a faithful blogger, I'm sure you deserve a day or two off to get ready for guests. Enjoy!!

  5. Oh my gosh, Terri! I never heard of Cat's Meow, but you may have just solved some of my Christmas gift-giving dilemmas!
Congrats on the 9# weight loss … I, too, like snacking on pork rinds, dipped in Marie's Bleu Cheese dressing. Yum!

  6. I like the Cat's Meow pieces. I only have a couple of pieces, but my aunt had several complete series. Once at women's retreat for our old denomination they had Faline (the creator of Cat's Meow) in as a speaker. It was interesting to hear her story.

  10. Gift cards and cash -- that's what we give most of the time.If we all lived in the same town and saw each other regularly, it might be different.

I like receiving cash/gift cards, too!
