First of all, I'm sorry I've missed a couple of days of your blogs. I did not take my computer with me to our son's house and I just can't do Blogger on my phone. I read a few when I had a few minutes, but my big fingers on that teenie keyboard just don't work.
That said, we had a wonderful time in Georgia, visiting Joey and Darlene and catching up with the animals they are rescuing, not to mention our grand puppies!
Darlene is still recovering from her hip replacement but she is doing great and fast-tracked through the first phase of her therapy. It's only been seven weeks and she moves around with an appearance like nothing happened.
We left Friday morning for Brunswick, GA. We don't travel the interstates but much prefer taking an extra 30 minutes to get there by going the back roads. We arrived there around 4:30 and we got to go right to their new "ranch" where the animals being rescued by their non-profit New Paths Horse Sanctuary The big horses had already been moved, but the minis and the donkey were just arriving at their new home!
This is Dexter, the donkey, arriving.
Dexter has never had pasture to walk in. He
has always been in a 'cage'.
Here he is, exploring and eating grass!
This beautiful horse is Kitty.
This is Kitty and Bebe, meeting Dexter.
Kitty, Bebe, and Jet.
Bebe with a volunteer, "B".
"B" with Jet and Bebe.
Doc, Bebe, and Kitty.
Mama goat, Camille, with a broken leg (splinted) and her baby, Coco.
Mini-horse, Lacey.
Lacey is in heat so is in a pen. Dexter was quite interested.
The other mini is Bear. Bear is cool, calm and a little sweetie!
Dexter has been "fixed" but not so long ago that he would be "safe"
if turned loose with Lacey in heat.

Switching gears...
Our grand puppies were happy to see us!
This is Zoe.
and this is Brooke.
We went out to eat Friday night at Millhouse Steak House.
The food was DELICIOUS. The volunteer "B" went with us.
We were all tired but had a great time!
Joe and Joey. Love my two men!
Joey and Darlene have a lovely home.
Darlene's mom lives with them. She will be 90 this year.
Amazing woman!!
Saturday night, we went over to St. Simon's Island
and had dinner at Mullet Bay.
Our loved ones!!
Me and another very much loved one!
Lobster bisque. Oh my goodness!!
I did stick to low carb and had this yummy shrimp salad
with toasted coconut, citrus and a citrus vinegarette.
We were gifted by a lovely sunset on the way back to Brunswick.
We went to breakfast on Sunday morning, before
Joe and I headed back to Lakeland.
Denny's has great food at the Flying J/Pilot station
just off the interstate a few miles from Joey & Dar's house.
We arrived home safely (thank you Jesus) after driving through torrential rain for about half the trip. I was happy to not be on the interstates. Got some laundry done and had a low-carb dinner. Watched some TV and here we are on Monday. Back to work. Wonderful memories tucked away!!
PS... Happy birthday to our youngest son, Jeff!! He turns 52 today! Wow!
He also reads my blog! This is Jeff and Kali! Two more of our loved ones!
Thanks for checking in! Peace & hugs! God bless!!

Wonderful memories. Happy Birthday to your son.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all always.
Wow, what a wonderful weekend! I love that you were able to be there and see all that beauty and those wonderful animals in person. Is the ranch right there at their house? What a wonderful thing to do. I have a friend down near Howey/Clermont area who volunteers at a place there like this. She loves it so much. So glad you made it home safely in all that torrential rain yesterday. Not a good day to travel, but God was with you. Thank you for sharing. Joey sure looks like his dad!! Both handsome men! Looks like Jeff does too!! Beautiful family. You are blessed!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am blessed. The "ranch" (17 acres) is 8 miles from their house.
DeleteHappy Birthday Jeff!!! What great memories, Terri. smiles
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a awesome weekend. I loved all your pics.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
What a fun trip and those horses are just gorgeous. Isn't It amazing how quickly people recover from Hip Replacement? The new method is a life changer for sure.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful trip... you are indeed blessed.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous weekend! Because our internet is going in and out, I can sure identify with trying to type on the itty-bitty phone screen. (Not!) So blown away with Joey and Darlene's non-profit. It's organizations like theirs where I'd be most willing to donate time and $. Before knowing my Tom, I never would have guessed the GOOD food to be found at those truck stops.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday blessings, Jeff!
Look for the trucks and you know the food is good! I grew up in a very small town in central Ohio. The best hangout was the local truck stop. Great food, good coffee, and they didn't care how long you sat and talked.
DeleteWhat a fun weekend! I would have been in my glory. I absolutely love donkeys and goats. They are just the cutest critters! I'm glad you had a wonderful visit and got back home safely. :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had so much fun! I love the work they do - how wonderful for that donkey to be out of a cage.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Jeff!
What a fun time that sounds like it was. Your grand puppies are so cute and the donkey, goats and horses look great. Bless Joey and Darlene for rescuing them all. Happy Birthday to your son Jeff! Hugs and blessings...have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a precious visit, Terri! Loved your photos and your recap of family reunion joys. Little grand-dogs should never be overlooked - how precious they are!
ReplyDeleteGlad you managed to make it home in spite of the storms. We here in Georgia are sick of the rain, too, though we really did need it. May God decide to allow it to fall usefully.
Blessings to you and Joe!
What a wonderful weekend! All those animals look very content to be in their safe home. I'm glad you got to make the trip up there. I really liked Brunswick, St. Simons, and Jekyll Island when we lived close enough to visit for day trips.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading about your visit with Joey and Darlene! And seeing all the pictures. Bless you for doing all that driving, especially in the torrential rain. I drive a lot, but haven't done a trip myself that was longer than three hours one way.
