We had a wonderful weekend in Naples, to celebrate grandson Tristan's high school graduation! Our son (Tristan's dad)Joey and daughter-in-law Darlene came down and Darlene's son Steve flew down from Pennsylvania to join the celebration too. It was great to see everyone together. We are blessed that our blended family can all get along and enjoy being together. Lauren & Tristan's mom is Kathy. Their dad is our son Joey. Kathy is now married to Jim and Joey is now married to Darlene. Hope you got that so the pictures will make sense!
Tristan walked in first because he is the tallest student. They filed in by height! LOL
He said it was extremely boring....
Proud Dad, step-brother and step-mom in the audience.
All over and walking back up the aisle with roses for the moms.
Tristan, me, Darlene, Joe and Joey.
Proud grandpa with Tristan.

Steve, Tristan and Lauren.
Dinner for all, after graduation, was in Old Naples. Italian (of course).
Our table was ready when we arrived. The food was served family style and was delicious. There was too much food to even begin to list, with appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts. There was something for everyone and then some! Whew!
Back at Kathy & Jim's (home) Tristan opened gifts. He was blessed with lots of wishes and some wonderful gifts.
Tristan won an award, and it was presented a few days earlier at the awards banquet. Tristan was a mentor to a 2nd grader and he was voted Mentor of the Year. His "little brother" wrote the following letter, and read it at the banquet. Kathy said there wasn't a dry eye..... If you click the images they will enlarge so you can read what the young man wrote.
He gave Tristan this photo, in a frame he made for it.
Kathy had cupcakes on a tiered platter. They were delicious!
We left Sunday morning with a promise to return for Tristan's going away party, before he leaves for Dallas and SMU in August.
This coming weekend we are off to Georgia to spend the weekend with my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate their birthdays. Looking forward to it!
I can hardly believe it is JUNE already!! June! How did that happen?!

ReplyDeleteIt is so nice that the blended families can spend time together and get along so well. Tristan is a very special young man and blessed to have all of you. The letter and picture for the child brought tears to my eyes too....Tristan will go far in life, no doubt about it.
ReplyDelete...'from the child.....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Congrats for getting into SMU! I pray that he will have an awesome 4 years at college. Happy Birthday Patti. Have a lovely Monday Terri. Blessings
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Tristan and thank you for sharing the photos and that sweet little 2nd grader's letter. Happy Bdy to Patti today!
ReplyDeleteIt's fantastic when families can still be friends and civil towards one another although some of the members have got divorced. My family I think is like this too. I know I've mentioned my ex brother-in-law who died of cancer a year after my mother. He was like a son for her and a brother to us.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Tristan. It's been fun watching him grow up and ready for college. I hope he enjoys his university days as much as I did. Thanks for sharing his day with us even if his ceremony wasn't so interesting. I remember how hot mine was (no air-conditioning in the gyms in those days) and the fact that I stepped on my gown going up the steps to accept my diploma and almost fell.
I'll admit that I had to read that first paragraph a couple times. LOL Love the photos, and it's wonderful that the family all get along so well. Many congratulations to Tristan. I bet that dinner was wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI've been part of a blended family for 28 years and it has been very good blend with occasional bumps! ;-) I congratulate your grandson, especially on that very special letter. What a treasure! It says volumes about that young man.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday, Patty!!! and congratulations, Tristan. What an honor.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your grandson! Family times together make precious memories!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Tristan! I love the photo of him with Joe. Joe looks so proud! The letter from the little boy is the best, and give even more of a reason to be proud of Tristan.
ReplyDeleteHow exciting...
ReplyDeleteThe pride shows in photos of all...AND your narration too Terri.
Well done.
What a beautiful celebration for such a fine young man. You have a wonderful family!
