It's a Hot Hodgepodge Wednesday!

Thank you, Joyce, for this week's Hodgepodge!  Join in the fun by clicking HERE!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 224

The Hodgepodge is back in action this week after a short break. I was actually moving house, so using that term 'break' rather loosely. Anyway you know the drill...answer on your own blog, then hop back  here tomorrow to share answers with friends and random strangers. See you there!

1. June is National Great Outdoors Month. Have you spent any time appreciating the great outdoors this month? If so where, and if not do you have any plans to enjoy the great outdoors before the calendar turns?   I guess you can call our visit to New Orleans and walking along the mighty Mississippi River enjoying the great outdoors, but that was last month, not this month.  It is really much too hot to be outside for too long here in Florida, in June!

2. What's a current hot button issue for you?   Can't think of a thing.

3. What's a food or treat that 'disappears like hotcakes' in your house?  Cookies.  Joe is a cookie monster.

4. How hot is too hot?  July and August in Florida!  High 90s and humid.

5. Do you have an artistic outlook on life?   I believe that I do!  What does that mean to you?  My life is surrounded by art and has been for as long as I can remember!

6. What's one question you'd like to ask your father, or one you wish you could ask your father?  I would just like to talk with him again.  How is Heaven?  How is Mom doing?  Have you been hunting up there with Randy (my brother)?  Say hi to Granny & Pawpaw for me!!  Give Bob James and Grandpa Cameron hugs from me!

7. Something you learned from your father?  How to drive; how to change a tire; how to love; how to laugh; how to drive a boat; how to clean a fish; how to take something apart and figure out how to fix it; how to eat/like hot peppers!  I can keep going.....

8.  Insert your own random thought here.  Father's Day is different when you don't have your father with you anymore.  Yes, we celebrate with Joe by talking with the boys on the phone but it just isn't the same anymore.  My dad has been gone since 1989 and I still miss him.  He was my age when he died.  Cancer sucks.  Missing Joe's dad, too.  If you still have your dad, hug him extra tight - not just this weekend, but as often as you can!!

Well, I sure hate to end a post on a downer!!  Goodness!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll look forward to your Wednesday posts!  Peace & hugs!!

  1. I feel the same. My dad passed away when I was in my early 30's and I so wish he could know my girls as adults. I enjoy celebrating my hubs and am thankful to have had a strong father in my growing up years. Stay cool!

  2. Hi Terri, Your father taught you many of the same things my dad taught me. He passed in 1998 and I miss him so. Will be visiting the cemetery later today where he and mom are buried.
Take care in the heat today.

  3. I didn't grow up with my father so I don't know him. FIL passed away a few years ago. We usually get hubby a card and a small gift.
It has been hot here the past few days. I think the days of having windows open is gone and the AC will be on everyday now. :(
Have a great day! Stay cool

  4. My father in law never met Liam, but we keep his memory alive, I know, not the same. I always enjoy your Hodgepodge answers. Try to stay cool (and I sure don't miss Fla/south, lol). Blessings

  5. Good answers my friend. Anything above 80 is too hot for this old gal, and the humidity is a killer too. Didnt know my father, parents divorced when I was 3 and never saw or heard from him. You are blessed to have had so many loving family members. Stay cool!

  6. I went to renew my passport this morning and walked back home, always keeping to the shady side of the street. I sure wouldn't have considered it later on in the day though. In summer I try to do what I can early in the day. The only good thing about summer in Madrid is the low humidity.

Hope you have a good day.

  7. Hi Terri!
I'm so jealous you were in New Orleans! I love that city and haven't been there in ages. The food and the culture are so cool - not to mention the architecture! ;)

Sorry about your Dad - that does make Father's Day hard and I don't think we ever stop missing those special loved ones. The promise of seeing them one day hopefully brings reassurance and peace when the sadness of missing them gets tough.
    Blessings to you! xoxo

Sounds like your dad was a pretty special man.

I hope you have a great day.

  9. Nice to hear the wonderful things your dad taught you - I think the biggest thing my dad taught me loyalty. So with the temps here are near 100 - are you hotter?? Whew....

  10. I get the cookie thing. I love cookies, my downfall. I just actually finished with my two year old granddaughter a pack of cookies. I know, not a great example. But, what's the saying, what happens at grandmas stays at grandmas.

  11. Cookies disappear at my place too.
I liked your thoughts on Dads. My Dad is coming for dinner on Sunday. His health hasn't been the best lately and I always wonder how long I'll have him.

  12. Thanks for reminding us of the blessing of fathers. Mine will be 83 in August, and Jim's dad just turned 96. Great fathers, both. Enjoy the sunshine!

  13. Miss my Dad too and I agree with you, Father's Day is just not the same. But we do celebrate with Mr D and the kids and that's always nice.
