Happy New Year, Joyce, and thank you for the Hodgepodge!!

Hodgepodge Questions-Volume 583
2. It's National Polar Bear Plunge Day (January 1)...will you be participating in one of these events (or even your own)? Ha ha ha! Heck no. How will you spend the first day of this brand new year? No plans and it actually feels kinda good. Do you have a traditional New Year's Day menu? No, not this year. I'm not crazy about black-eyed peas and collards so I won't be making them just for me.
3. What's something that brings you joy and how will you do more of it in this new year? Family and friends bring me joy and this year represents a new chapter in my life because I "retired" from my part-time job and am now a woman of leisure. Who knows where it will take me?!!!
4. Do you struggle with the January blues? What's one thing you can/will do to keep them at bay? I don't think I've ever had January blues. I live in Florida and January weather is THE BEST and it is also strawberry season so how can anyone be blue? Are you feeling blue? Come on down!!
5. Will you choose your own personal word of the year for 2025? What about a goal, resolution, or maybe even a bucket list? Elaborate as much or as little as you like. I announced my word last week. It's Mindfulness. I don't make resolutions or set goals and didn't have a "word" last year. This one found me...
Mindfulness is embracing God's promise of abundant life—living life fully by being entirely present in each moment. Being present in each moment as it actually is rather than insisting that it be something different. Accepting our experience in each moment as a gift from God.
6. Insert your own random thought here. I sincerely wish all of my blogging friends a healthy, happy, and totally awesome year ahead!! Make it great!!

Loving your new word; mindfulness. Thanks for the chuckle that you are now a "woman of leisure". Wishing you a great day, friend.
ReplyDeleteThat is an excellent word, one for everyone I think. Happy new year Terri! Enjoy retirement and time with friends and new experiences too.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, Terri! There won't be any collards or black-eyed peas served here either.
ReplyDeleteJust not a fan! That is a great word and one for everyone to keep in mind.
Amen, Terri! I'm not fond of collards or black-eyed peas but will prepare both for luck (lol) in the spirit of tradition -- then taste a tablespoon or two and call it good. Love the optimism I hear in your words today! xo
ReplyDeleteSame to you Terri.. the very best for the New Year
ReplyDeleteI've not heard of brain rot. I call it brain fade. Been suffering from that for years and can't blame social media for that one. LOL May I start blogging again after being MIA. I'm finally feeling inspired. Happy New Year my friend! ❄️
ReplyDeleteI would gladly eat the black eyed peas and collards off of your plate! Not having either of them over here today either. But I do like them. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI like that word, "mindfulness". It makes one think just saying the word! We had blackeyed peas, rice and ham and cornbread here. I forgot about getting collard greens. But John didn't mind. He's not that crazy about them. It was good anyway. Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteMindfulness is a great word for the year. We like to eat Chinese food on New Year's Eve and Day so we had that tonight. No black eyed peas for me. Not a fan. I hope that you have had a good New Year's Day. See you again soon!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great choice of word for the year Terri. Happy New Year!
