My Weekend Recap on Tuesday...

I had a very nice weekend with my sister, Tammy, who lives near Valdosta, Georgia.  We had tickets to see Sean Dietrich/Sean of the South, in Leesburg, Georgia, on Sunday, which was 90 minutes from Tammy's house.

My blog is my journal, so I apologize if this is too long.

My ride north on Friday was easy and uneventful. I prefer to take back roads whenever it is possible.  It usually takes longer but I find it more relaxing and I pay more attention to my driving.  On the interstates, I tend to go into auto-pilot comas and there are always accidents that slow you down.  Back roads give you more places to stop when nature calls. You know what I mean!  Back roads allow you to see things you don't see on the interstates, such as little shops that might require a quick look and add to the extra time it takes to get where you are going!  It is easier to hit a drive-thru for coffee or chicken nuggets (easy to eat while driving).  You get my drift...

There is a restaurant near Tammy called Carter's and they have fried chicken livers on the menu.  I happen to love fried chicken livers and so does Tammy.  When she was telling me what we could cook for dinner I suggested we let someone else do the cooking and we took off for carry-out livers, onion rings, and some delicious coleslaw. Oh my goodness, it was so good!!

Saturday found us at Walmart to pick up some things Tammy needed.  Her neighbors were invited for dinner with us Saturday evening.  She made taco pie (yummy) and a big salad to go with it.  Her neighbors are so good to her and I like catching up with them when I am there.  During Hurricane Idalia, Jeff and Amber had Tammy over and they played cards until the storm passed.  They were all without power for a few days and another neighbor made sure she could plug into their generator to keep her fridge on.

Speaking of the hurricane, taking back roads up into Georgia was sobering.  There were so many trees down, still on the sides of the roads.  I didn't see any homes damaged but there were uprooted trees all over.  I couldn't take pictures because I was using my phone as a GPS.

The taco pie was very good and it was a nice dinner with fun conversation.

On Sunday, Tammy and I left for the concert at 10:30.  We wanted time to stop for lunch before we got to Leesburg.  We were already warned that they only have McDonalds, Hardee's, and Subway (which are all okay in a pinch, but...)  We found this little diner in a town before we got to Leesburg.  It was very busy and we had good breakfast food.  Tammy had a waffle and biscuits with gravy.  I had two eggs, sausage, and grits.  Coffee... yes, we had coffee, too!

The concert was in the Lee County high school auditorium.  It is a BIG school and the auditorium probably holds close to 1,000 people.  We had to wait a bit before the doors opened but got good seats. The concert was so good.  If you ever get the chance to go see Sean Dietrich, go.  Good clean fun.  We laughed and laughed.  He also had the audience all singing "In The Garden" with him, and that was so awesome.  Lift the voices...

Us before the show started.

The auditorium was full, front to back and all three sections.

This is the best photo I could get of Sean.

I cropped it in...
He plays banjo, guitar, and piano, and sings, as well as being a great storyteller.  He has written 15 or so books has a couple of CDs, and has a daily column you can get for free.  Here is his Facebook Page and here is his blog page.

I got a picture with Sean's wife, Jaimie.  She is so nice and is Sean's manager.  She manned the book & CD sales table and communicated with me on email when I purchased the tickets.

Sean did a "meet and greet" after the show.  There were well over 100 people in line and Tammy wasn't up to standing in line or waiting for that long.  She has some health issues that make walking and standing for long periods very painful.  I was happy I got a photo with Jaimie, and then I pulled the car up so Tammy could get in and we could head back to her house.  We were so happy we got to see him live and in person!!  Good clean fun and always uplifting.

Tammy's cat, Fuzzy, is my Vinny's sister.  We got Vinny from a feral community that Tammy and her hubby were feeding and caring for.  Most of the cats, including Fuzzy and Vinny's momma cat, were adopted out.  This is Vinny and Fuzzy when we decided to adopt him.  They were about 6 months old.  Vinny is 11 now so Fuzzy must be the same!

Now, Vinny is twice as big as Fuzzy.  She is a little petite sweetheart with a huge purr!!  She slept with me my last night at Tammy's.  Made me miss my boys, though.

My trip home yesterday went well.  Back roads again.  I came home a different route from the one I took going up.  Back to work today and I'm doing an eight-hour shift to make up for having Monday off.

I will catch up on some of the blogs I've missed but probably won't get to them all (sorry). I didn't open my computer while I was away.

Peace and Hugs!

Praise God from Whom all blessings flow!!!
