My dad's parents have both been gone many years now, but I have so many wonderful memories of my Granny & Pawpaw Kelly.
I don't know that this is their wedding photo, but I imagine that it is.
Granny & Pawpaw were farmers and worked hard. I have memories
of helping to gather eggs, of honey from an old tree, and
of using the outhouse because they didn't have an indoor toilet.
My Granny could cook! Oh, my goodness,
her fried chicken has never been surpassed by any I've had since.

This is the Kelly family. My dad on the left with the hat on,
then my Uncle Bill, Aunt Phyllis, Granny and Pawpaw.
This looks like a modern day photo booth set of pictures
but it is a lot older than any photo booth. My Pawpaw was quite dashing, I think!
Granny was quite the "diva" too, and I show these together because
she worked HARD on the farm. I think my dad took this photo of her in the chair.
The rocking chair she is sitting in now resides in my sister-in-law's home.
My folks went on vacation with them, to Lookout Mountain
in Tennessee. Pawpaw is holding me. Granny was quite fashionable
wearing those slacks back in the early 1950s!!
This was them at their 50th wedding anniversary.
Pawpaw committed suicide when he was 82 years old.
It was a huge shock, especially for Granny who had no idea until the police
knocked on the door after a passer-by reported the body in their garage which was
on a back alley. Granny was 80 a year later when she died peacefully in a nursing home.
And this is how I remember them the most.

Thanks for checking in!! I look forward to your Black & White Memories!!
Happy August (where has the summer gone?!) Peace & hugs!
