The weekend isn't really over since we have today off to celebrate Memorial Day and to remember all those brave men and women who gave their lives for us in service to this country. May they rest in peace, knowing that their lives were not given in vain. God bless America! Land of the Brave.
On Friday, Joe and I ran some errands, including a trip to the post office downtown, to mail my sister's birthday gift. There was a sky-writer who wrote Jesus Loves U and as it was fading, he started writing it again. I posted this on Facebook so sorry if you have seen it already.
One of our errands was to pop into our local Ace Hardware. We love Crowder Brother's Ace Hardware. They truly do have everything and anything. We needed a new flag pole and a red-white-and-blue windsock. We bought metal this time and got a glorious 55" windsock. I've missed having it out there. We swapped out the windsock for the flag today.
Notice the two bunnies in the empty lot across the street!
While there, we saw a small gas grill that was on sale (Memorial Day Special) and seemed like the perfect size for us. I took a picture and when we got home I went online to make sure the price was good, and it was! Saturday was laundry day, but after deliberating about the grill, we took a few minutes to go back to get it. Whew!! There was only one left and they had just put it together (for us!)! We got it, a gas canister, and a cover. I'm excited to have a grill again. We got rid of our big one when we moved here two years ago. Our old one was so big, it seemed silly to fire it up for two burgers or two steaks. This one is just perfect for two steaks or two burgers. Yay!
Yesterday we went to church and then Helen and Cheryl came over for lunch with us. I had pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, deviled eggs, watermelon, pickles and they brought lemon and red velvet cakes (small) for dessert. There was enough to send some home with them for later.
Today we have a pot-luck at the Clubhouse. Meats provided and all who come bring a dish to share. Social time starts at noon, with lunch served at 1:00. It will be fun. We have a table of nine saved.
Back to work tomorrow! Looking forward to our trip to Joey & Darlene's in Georgia on June 7th.
Thanks for checking in! Peace & hugs!! God bless!!
Have a wonderful Memorial day.. Sounds like great plans.
ReplyDeleteAmazing how he could write like that in the sky.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
It sounds like the perfect summer kick-off! We have been having some stormy weather and we are both working today (and worked all weekend) so we haven't had any plans. We did go buy all the plants for the garden and flowers for the two big pots I have along the walk after work on Saturday. Last night we planted everything. I'm so glad we got that done before the next round of rain comes tomorrow. Enjoy your pot-luck today!
ReplyDeleteSounds like you've had a very nice weekend so far and more to come today. Enjoy your new grill. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteLove that little grill. Ricky & I dont need a big one. & we'd only be using it for veggies anyways ;) haha...
ReplyDeleteLOVE the sky writer. What a way to put the name of Jesus out there!!!
I love that little grill too. We did the same thing...got rid of out big one and got one that's smaller...for smaller meals! Enjoy your day! It's HOT!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sky writer is so neat! Congrats on the great deal (grill). Tom's Weber is seriously falling apart, but he's reluctant to spring for a new one. Hope you're having a great time at the potluck!
ReplyDeleteOur menu on this holiday was pork ribs in BBQ sauce, baked beans, cole slaw, and cherry crisp for dessert.
ReplyDeleteAs you well, know, it's nice and HOT outside, which fits right in with the summer patriotic holidays. #thanks4AC
I hope you had a lovely day, smiles.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you are having a nice day. I love the new grill! I bet it will get lots of use. We used ours for hamburgers tonight.
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed your day. My mom has a grill like that. It is perfect for a small amount of things.
ReplyDeleteOh Terri! That skywriting is so awesome! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your grill! We got a new one today to enjoy this summer.
